Mandatory
Ricing GNU/Linux is made by not only choosing themes and colors, but what software goes in your computer. "Display Managers" are the login screens, "Window Managers" are the part drawing the borders, colors, etc, and "File Managers" are what handles how you browse your machine. More info:

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-nintendo-switch-spec-analysis
http://venturebeat.com/2016/12/14/nintendo-switch-specs-less-powerful-than-playstation-4/
The use of Maxwell is no surprise, but shockingly these reports are indicating (without stating conclusively) that the Nintendo Switch's SoC is likely being manufactured at 20nm. This is surely the last pre-FinFET design to come from a major hardware vendor. To compensate for its poor power/performance ratio, the GPU is supposedly clocked at an underwhelming 307MHz in mobile mode.
Nintendo is already walking a very narrow thread of power/performance to get console-like graphics in a portable device. Not using FinFET is a very bad sign.
What are your thoughts on these rumors, /g/?
>>58084810
Why is anybody surprised? Nintendo hardware is always shit. The people who obsess over their games will buy it and everybody else won't, just like always.
>>58084810
fucking nintendo, I just wanted a new Shield tablet. Now not only there's no new tablet but they are releasing it with shit tier support and it will only play retarded mario games for numales
>>58084810
I already knew it was going to be using the older Tegra because there's not enough time to develop hardware with the new shit. Also predicted it would be slow, hot and crappy and a bad fit for what they're trying to do.
What's the best tablet to buy in 2017-1 if your main use will be reading PDFs you download from the Internet, but also occasional Internet (browsing mostly text-based websites)?
Chink shit or Amazon or Asus... any recommendations?
/g/'s recommendations are always the best
>>58084736
any reasonable priced large e ink readers out yet
>>58084761
nope
there's a kikestarter one that probably won't ship for another year for like $5-800
what is the best /g/-approved IM service?
it has to:
>respect muh privacy and be secure (encrypted)
>have desktop clients (not web browser shit)
>not bloated and be updated regularly
>have mobile client
Leaving the house and going to a bar.

doesn't work when the majority of people don't go there for talking
can't always be at a bar either. people have shit to do. NEETS need not apply.

I'd like to buy my new keyboard, and I saw IBM Model M. I love that sound, but suspicious that It is appropriate for my work(coding, writing, and so on.).
Should I select another keyboard?
>>58084639
Yes the buckling spring does get tiring after a while. Get something with cherry switches
Buckling Spring is noisy as hell and also completely unsuited if you play any games at all.
I've owned a Model M and two Unicomp Ultra Classics. The Model M had weird problems with keys that would get stuck and wouldn't bounce back right, and both Unicomps had n-key rollover problems and completely died on me after a few years of use.
I'm now on some $10 shitter Microsoft keyboard and I couldn't be happier. Maybe one day I'll get a mechanical keyboard....maybe.
That's horrible, okay. I'll go find another keyboard right now.
I was doing some housekeeping and decided to wipe my Western Digital 500 GB external hard drive using CCleaner's drive wipe utility. Since I had all of the files backed up on another drive, I selected the "Entire Drive" wipe.
Everything seemed to go OK while the drive was being wiped, but now my computer is no longer recognizing the drive. I tried my laptop as well but no luck there either.
Is there a way to fix this or should I just toss the thing out?
Install gentoo on it. Should work fine
Initialize Drive on diskmgmt.msc. it will help you to recover recognition of your drive.

Fantastic. I think I have a competition with CAT phones, but I see no reason to change from my current Xperia C in any foreseeable future.
I only need my phone for emails, calls and phone tethering. Google navigation is a plus, and nothing else.
Hey /g/,
Audio pleb here, I need your help! This is what I have:
Headphones: Audio-Technica ATH-M50x
Amp: M-Audio Bass Traveler
When I connect my headphones to my amp and to my computer from there, it creates static that has become unbearable. However, the static was almost silent when I used to connect my amp to the audio jack on my old keyboard, but since then I've replaced that keyboard with a mechanical one that lacks an audio jack.
I tried running the amp with the same headphones to my cell phone and it sounds good, with the exception of little static blips that sound when I stop audio.
I understand that the Traveler is a low-end device but really I just want a static-free setup for watching movies, playing games, and listening to music. I do not have an external video card, but I believe my computer uses the one integrated in my Nvidia GTX 1070 GPU. I understand that there is a lot of electronic noise around integrated devices and that can lead to static.
So I've thought of two options to work around the static but I wanted to see if anyone could put their two cents in:
1: Get this device (Sabrent USB External Stereo Sound Adapter), then connect as such - headphones -> amp -> usb adapter -> PC.
Link: https://www.amazon.com/Sabrent-External-Adapter-Windows-AU-MMSA/dp/B00IRVQ0F8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1482195072&sr=8-1&keywords=usb+to+audio+jack
2: Get a different amp (FiiO E10K USB DAC) that goes from audio to USB
Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00LP3AMC2/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=3LBHEITA1VDGY&coliid=I11DIRBIM7ZWUT
So what do you all think? I'd prefer to go with the cheaper route, but if the FiiO sounds better and it solves the problem then I may just go with that. I appreciate all other suggestions though but I'd prefer to not spend more than $100 on a solution.

What a bunch of niggers
Can we all just fucking agree that there is never any need to say "forward slash"? If you say "slash", it's implied that you mean a forward slash (\). The other one is always called backslash (/). There is NO way to confuse the two.
Do you say "left click" and "right click"? NO! You say "click" and "right click". It's the same fucking thing.
THANK YOU
