People I consider genius are:
>Edsger Dijkstra
>Stephen Cook
>Alan Turing
>John von Neumann
Not geniuses:
>Richard Stallman
>Bill Gates
>Steve Jobs
>Markus "Notch" Persson
>>58101571
Good list, add Elon Musk to the "not geniuses" one.

OP here,
Thanks. I agree on Elon Musk being considered "not genius".
Hilter was a genius.
why does /g/ hate the AirPods?
how many of you actually own them?
i don't need to own them
wireless audio devices are garbage tier
Who fucking cares.
I hate that they're the only product of their kind. It all works really well, the whole product.
Charging the carrying case which can then be used to charge the AirPods on the go, the quick pairing with all devices on your Apple ID, the sensors to detect when the pods are in your ear, everything about that portion of the AirPods is incredibly nice.
However, the sound is just straight up poor. Granted they haven't had "burn in" time, but I listened to a pair and they're just like the earpods. Shitty sound quality that normies don't even recognize and they'll happily pay $160 for them.
I hope other earbuds can replicate the AirPods in some way. The ease of use is what's about to convince me to buy them. I'll hold off for a while, until AirPod 2 or other devices similar. I just want better sound quality for even casual listening.
If I'm using KeePassX to store my passwords, is there anything I can do to access those passwords on another computer? Do I just install it on that computer too?

Have you tried not being mentally retarded?
>>58101462
Seems a bit too difficult. It's there any easier way?
>>58101559
I store it in google drive, I have a strong password and enabled key stretching so I'm not that worried.

Try to find a USB to USB in your house. No, not a USB to Micro USB, not a USB to Mini USB, not a USB to square USB. Find even a single one of these fucking cables that has the same on both sides. You can't. I need one and I've searched through a dozen boxes of cables and this cable simply does not exist.
>>58101174
shut the fuck up OP
>>58101174
>2016
>still using cables
Just cut off the micro USB end and splice on a full USB plug. The wire colors should be the same so just match them up and you're good to go

Is React a meme-tier web dev paradigm?
What ever happened to separation of concerns?
Has anyone here used React for something beyond TodoMVC?

This isn't JS right?
Web Dev is meme tier
I already have a predone cooler on my processor.
Can I use both, or is this a shitty idea?
>>58101070
Sorry, just realized "predone cooler" is vague as shit.
I have this stupid thing.
>>58101078
Yes to which?
Of course you can use both, as long as your case can accommodate two of them.

Hey /g/, what feature would you like to see or would you like to see more often in a music player? (both for PC and phones).
>>58101017
I'd like to see dedicated music players with actual buttons instead of touchscreens be a thing again.
>>58101069
As in, software music player.
>>58101130
Then I don't know. There's a gorillion software music players for pretty much every taste. Ranging from minimalist terminal stuff to huge fancy ricer programs. I'd say music-playing software, as a class, is now feature-complete. I don't think there are any glaring inadequacies or unfilled niches left.
Does anyone on /g/ think VR games could benefit from implementation of physX?
I figure, since you're relatively stationery in most of these games, you could get a lot of mileage out of destructible environments and particle effects.
Any thoughts?
>>58100983
even with hardware PhysX, there's simply not enough headroom on top of VR currently.
>>58101009
What's the current bottleneck?
>>58101043
GPU capable of outputting at least 90hz on two 1080x1200 screens.
Basically like running two resource intensive games at the same time.
Now we did just get some ~cheaper~ cards that can do it this gen, ie 480, and that cost will keep going down. So I fully expect it to be possible to add physx soon, but on most rigs you would be spending a lot. Also it requires more dev time to add such a feature and VR is already more difficult to develop for.
Been asked to get a P4 up and running...
ITT old tech you never thought to see again
>>58100894
at my old job I used to collect the computers that clients would dispose of, many of them were P4s. I would take 3 or 4 identical units, clean one, gut the rest, load the clean one with as much good ram I scavenged.
I have a PIII thinkpad currently in storage, it refuses to die.
I still have my P4 running. Eat dicks.
>>58101048
Ive got a P1 Thinkpad, P3 Thinkpad and P4 Thinkpad
No P2 thinkpad
is there a p2 thinkpad even?
>>58100894
this isnt really too old mate, plenty of people are still using old systems like this, especially the losers here on /g/
or LGA 775 in general, tons of people still run core2duo/quads and p4's celery sticks
Seen someone at work do this today. I told them you can just send the document to the printer and she asked " Whats the printers email address"
On another note, How can I get a bunch of IP addresses? I know a VPN will give you a new IP but what if i wanted to switch between a bunch of ip addresses? For example If I wanted to write a bot to generate ad revenue, I would have it change mac and IP every time the ad was viewed.
Just curious, If anyone has some insight on this subject.
>>58100874
In all fairness, my printer has an email address that you can print documents to if you're not on the network.
>>58100874
I can guarantee someone in the early 90s made a photocopy of a 5.25" floppy because someone asked them to make them a copy of the disk.
