Why is it taking so long for glibc to implement threads.h?
musl has supported threads.h for a while now

Why did I buy an 8gig RX480?
Who in their right mind needs 8 gigs of RAM on their fucking video card?
What possible fucking program is going to need 16 gigs of DDR 3 and 8 of DDR5?
God, I'm such a fucking RETARD
>>58224076
I could have bought two 2 gig RX 460's and run them in crossfire, at least then I would have gotten at least SOME improvement in performance...
Software is like porn, new software will expand to fit available space
Why the fuck theres no 6gb rx480
Wouldn't even know how to use one of the newer touchscreen pieces of shit. I don't want brain cancer.
>>58224045
same, except in the recent year i obtained a mobile phone - conceptually they're not all that different from the computers of past years.. mainly in the sense that well... they're not very "multitask oriented" as much as their multicore processors would like you to believe.
a disappointing experience if you hoped for an overall desktop computer replacement.

You realize that TV and radio stations are a thing which would have far greater ""theoretical"" potential of that, right?

I just cant take this shit anymore i just got linux mint and every time I go off on a tangent and try to learn how to do something instead of the GUI/"X Manager Package" route i spend 3 hours travelling through 70 fucking help forums and settling knowing im an incompetant babby
Mfw it took me 2.5 hours to figure out how to set my mouse sensitivity/profile on startup, only for me to fail creating an xorg.conf file, and instead settle for adding in my own shitty bash script to startup options in the system settings program
Mfw I tried to mount my windows partition but contents dont show in nautilus even though its mounted
Mfw I boot up today and its fucked for no reason and because im stupid i deleted my fstab and cant copy my backup into the /etc/ directory for no FUCKING REASON
Every so often i feel like the glory of successfully operating linux, but every time i reach the conclusion it doesnt fucking work. Kill me
Linux mint sux.
>>58223768
According to 4chan every distro sux
Can you at least tell me why mint sux compared to other distros?
>>58223703
it does that for a while, and either you keep doing blackbox fixes with no clue what's going on long enough you can become properly situated and acquainted with the system and start learning shit, or you give up and go back to windows
my first piece of advice is to go full cold turkey and ditch windows entirely, forcing yourself to learn linux, then learning to use the terminal to do shit (which is a shitton more powerful than most people realize), then play around with other distros for a time and find one you really like and stick with it
secondly, experiment as much as you can and keep an installer handy. break shit and try to fix it, and if you can't, try again from scratch after you have some fun trashing what's left
if you have to do "serious work" (i.e. use MS office/video games/other windows-exclusive software), linux probably isn't a viable option for you until you can find alternatives to software or forego them, or have another computer exclusively for that
lastly, keep learning, do all the ricer shit if you want, try to optimize your system if you'd like, and try compiling at least one kernel from scratch, anything to fiddle around with your system to better understand it and how to manipulate parts of it so that you can do whatever you'd like and be able to fix things just with a simple google search

Can computer viruses /actually/ be removed or is it just a myth? Why does every virus removal instruction guide just tell you to download malwarebytes and expect that to work? Does anything actually fix computer viruses other than just wiping the hard drive?
>>58223617
Shred your hard drive and hope your virus wasn't advanced enough to rewrite the firmware on your motherboard.
Most common viruses can be removed with pretty much any anti-virus software.
For best practices it's best to format and reinstall reason being is you cant be 100% certain the software you used removed it completely.
>>58223673
What do you mean by format and reinstall? Sorry for the dumb question
>What is the technology stack behind Duolingo?
>Duolingo runs on Amazon Web Services. We use MySQL to store most of our persistent data, DynamoDB for storing user vocabularies, and a combination of Redis and memcache for caches. Most of our backend stack is written in Python, while the frontend is a combination of mustache templates, backbone.js, jQuery, and Twitter Bootstrap.

Smartwatch users, what do you have and what's your experience of using it for two-factor authentication?
On a whim, I googled to see if it's possible to install Google Authenticator on a smartwatch, and it looks like it is! So I'm thinking of getting a smartwatch for this purpose because I would carry it with me even when I would not carry my huge ass phone. So I want hear your experiences. Is 2FA tedious to use on a smartwatch? Does it work stand-alone without the phone? Also, which smartwatch would you recommend for this? Besides 2FA, I care about battery life, small size, and non-tedious charging, in that order.
>>58223576
Smart watches are a panopticon
Use real watches instead, such as casio
>>58223576
I don't have any experience using mine for 2FA, But I can tell you a good model.
Moto 360 2Gen.
Battery lasts a good two days for me.
You will however need to keep your phone on your person to use it, smartwatches are not stand alone devices.
>>58223655
I have the same watch but first gen, same issues/problems
However, I think I do remember there are some watches that can be standalone, especially since the Android Wear2 update (if it already happened), but I’m not sure.
Also, smartwatches are totally useless when you don’t have one, and completely essential once you have one.
