It keeps getting worse too. 2000-2009 was probably the high point of technology if we include the Internet
The internet has gone down and they don't know when it will be back up?
What will you do in the meantime? Share what other technology you will enjoy?
Myself: God bless the printing press. Imma read some books.

This thread is pathetic. It is not about programming. It's just a bunch of computers illiterates and first semesters memeing about whatever they just learned.
A quick search shows that most arguments used here are not original and have been copied from some trendy tech blog or other shit site.
The only real programming questions I have seen so far are from beginners(it's fine to be a beginner btw).
This entire site is shit and I don't know why anyone would regularly come here.

Second for Haskell generates a gigabyte of unused data
Alright, Archcucks. Justify the the continuous/instant update/bleeding edge meme.
You have never gotten anything necessary from a new update. And if you did, it's nothing that you couldn't get from any other distro only several days later.
Beeing "bleeding edge" just means you have more untested code.
I've used Arch-based distros for a while and they can't be trusted to do some of the most basic things consistently. I don't think I've gone three straight days without printer driver errors.
Ooops now I gotta fix X. Now I gotta downgrade Blender. Now I gotta reinstall LaTeX and the 2 gigs of packages that go with it. Daily life of an Archcuck.
Arch machines are the only ones that spontaneously break.
>>58228465
Ive had no issues with arch, arch based distros are a different story. Bleeding edge allows you to get security updates as fast as possible (kernel updates for example) that would take much longer on other distros.
Works on my machine!
>>58228465
Why would arch be so unstable?
I've never used it but Solus is also bleeding edge and stable release. Works perfectly for me.
What makes Arch so different? If what you say is true.
Editions are banned edition

Repositories are in fucking china and they are slow as fuck, The fonts in chrome are all fucked, Can barely read what im typing right now.
Debian unstable fucking blows, It's literally worse than arch and breaks all the time.
The UI is really really nice but it's not worth using this piece of shit.
>>58228135
>Debian unstable fucking blows
Yeah it's not Linux that blows, it's only that specific distribution
Switch to another one, this one will be better! I swear, you have my word!
what the fuck did you buy

Solus was nice but it didnt have enough software for me.
I guess ill try ubuntu gnome next. I cant stand unity though.

I'm a teacher wanting to create a charging station for as many of my students as possible. It's a soft incentive for them to check in their phones. I already have a sorting system in place so their phones are secure with me— what I need is power.
Would it be a viable/safe idea to buy several of these chargers and plug them into a power strip? Could I run into potential faults/electrical issues/fires? I'm trying to come up with a way to charge as many phones as possible (up to 40) without breaking the bank/causing issues. Suggestions?
how about fuck you

“I think we ought to get on with our lives. I think that computers have complicated lives very greatly.”

I agree with trump. Computers need to return to 80s UNIX simplicity.
He should have said the internet has complicated lives greatly. Because it has. Everyone is connected to an endless stream of shit every waking moment of their lives. It's not healthy.

so what now?
What are some Paint.NET alternatives for Linux? I've tried GIMP, but it feels too autistic, and Pinta. Pinta mostly looks good, but I can't fucking find how to resize selection in it, and that's just ridiculous.
>he doesn't just use imagemagick terminal commands for all his image modification needs
I'd recommend just going balls deep into GIMP. It is different from Paint.NET, but has a good payoff as you start to master it.
You're not going to find a near perfect paint.net clone, although yeah Pinta blows.
>>58227702
Pinta is shaping up to be a decent Paint.net clone, but for now Krita is the best image editing software for Linux imo
>>58227702
>gimp is too autistic
Did you try it in multi window mode?
If I have cable internet and a router, can I connect another router to that router to make a new network, ad infinitum?
yeah that's probably possible
>>58227656
>ad infinitum
no
so you mean completely separate networks? Because the limiting factor will be DHCP and the fact you only have the 192.168.X.X and another less common network block.
however, if you don't connect to the internet then theoretically you could have all the IP addresses available to you assuming your DHCP server can keep up with the number of devices.
How does Youtube keep getting worst with every update?
Now you can't see and respond to comments while watching other videos, you HAVE to be on the video where the thread is at to respond. They don't even have the decency to open the video on a new tab and there isn't a way to do it manually. It is literally worst in every single aspect, how do they keep doing this shit?
>commenting on youtube videos
>>58227660
>Not answering to retarded comments with caps lock on
>>58227648
It's the UI design that gets to me
The new layout looks like utter trash, you can't identify the likes to dislikes ratio at a glance anymore since it's reduced to just numbers, 2000 likes is now 2K likes... what unprofessional meme shit is this? Text font is way too big. There's too much space between UI elements... the list goes on and on.
The change I hate the most so far is the autohiding controls on videos now. Pause the video to read something and the fucking thing slides out the bottom and covers the video. Fucking why. 40 pixels of vertical space saved only to waste it by adding more blank fucking space in the layout later on.
I don't know what retards work on UI and UX design in google anymore, but they sure are great at fixing what ain't broke.
2006 Youtube was based
2017 Youtube looks like utter garbage
Hit me with the red pill about the rival 300
It seems so perfect.. Perfect sensor, perfect weight (i prefer the slightly heftier mice), perfect design and perfect button layout.
What's wrong with it.
>>58227466
Shitty build quality
>>58227466
Buy the black version because the coating on the white one goes away really quickly.
>>58227466
Doesn't it have a worse sensor than the new Logitech models?
How can a company be so shit?
>but...but linustechtips said that razer blade is good.

Had there keyboard for 4 years so far and it works amazing, despite all the abuse I give it. Their mouse I had for 5, twice as long as all my previous mice, before the mouse 4 button stopped working. I bought another right away. They build some high quality stuff that lasts a long time and performs excellently.
I've heard some complaints about "feeling", their keyboards and mice feel fine. I'm always relaxed when using their stuff, and never felt the devices being what's holding me back. I've been using computers since 1996 so I used a lot of mech keyboards back in my day, but not anymore.
>>58227448
The Razer Blade is actually good.
Their peripherals are horse shit
