Because that's how marketing works.
Same reason Samsung, Coca-Cola, Dyson, and all the other mega-brands are so big.

How is the battery life on that?
Not a big fan of the 720p screen.
Battery life is decent for the price. Nothing amazing, but fine for daily use. It's basically the Chinkpad of phones. Try the /spg/ thread for better suggestions.

>Need to enable GeForce Experience in order to be able to put Nvidia Control Panel in the system tray
lol when will nvidiots learn???
WTF who cares
Really clutching for straws to shitpost with, OP.
Fuck off with this BLOWN THE FUCK OUT xDDDDDDDDD posts already.
Calm down everyone. There have been no signs of Nvidia charging for drivers or features.
Yes, they require your e-mail to update the drivers via GeForce Experience, but you don't need to update them often. You bought Nvidia for the early driver releases? Then you can just download them the old way. Literally nothing wrong with that. We've been doing it that way since the 80s. It's hardcore.
They're locking features like GPU passthrough on quadro cards? And accurate colors? That's ok. No one needs those. You just use windows to run the latest games. Your monitor doesn't need that many colors, especially when it has G-SYNC. Have you ever tried using AMD's Linux drivers? They are terrible.
The Nvidia control panel on the system tray is bloat anyway. You can just keep the window minimized, since you have all that system power to spare. Nvidia is still the only brand that matters since AMD's drivers are terrible, full of issues and so Nvidia is the only alternative.
As the others have said, this is not a big deal at all. Stop trying to blow it out of proportion. Clearly, you are an AMD shill. POO IN THE LOO PAJEET.

Why doesn't Microsoft should just charge 7 a small fee for every new Direct X release/major security updates, and rebrand 10 as "Windows Touch" to appease to the Tablet/Touchscreen market.
>>58233294
because thats literally what apple did, charge for fucking OS updates

Better than having to fork out 100+ dollars for bloatware. In a perfect world Linux would get its shit together and gain market control, but I don't see that happening in the foreseeable future.
Seriously though. This is the perfect solution until some hero saves us from Microshit. Their public opinion would improve, and normalshits could go about using their touchpads and whatnot and not be any wiser.

Linux != Android
Security through Obscurity.
People only thought linux was secure because an irrelevant fraction of people used it.
Now that it's seeing some reasonable popularity exploits are being revealed left and right.
I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called “Linux”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project. There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called “Linux” distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.
I currently own a macbook pro which I have grown sick of and I want a linux laptop again. Need some suggestions as to the best place I should buy one.
I'm currently looking at ThinkPenguin and a few have suggested System76, but I've also heard some pretty shitty things about System76.
I know other more mainstream names sell pre-installed linux laptops such as Dell and Lenovo, but I've had shitty experiences with both in the past and Lenovo's several spyware scandals worry me.
What wisdom does /g/ have to impart?
Also, absolute most i'm willing to pay is probably around $1,100
>>58232599
>What wisdom does /g/ have to impart?
It will cost more for a laptop without any OS than one with some shitty Windows starter edition on it. Just buy that and install your favourite distro on it yourself. Or even bether, install your favourite distro on your macbook pro.
system76 is your best bet if you want a preinstalled Linux laptop. I assume you want things to jsut werk and don't like the direction Apple is taking their newer laptops.
Hey, if I start a hardware company, I can focus on using open-source software to cut down on costs. I could make simple user-friendly tech for old grandmas and market it as extremely secure due to running open-source software.
Just a random thought
What are you working on, /g/?

Trying to compile Haskell to intermediate C code so I can prove someone on /g/ wrong, but I don't know why it isn't working.
Using higher order functions is not functional programming in the same way that using objects is not object-oriented programming.
