Hi /g/ you probably get this thread every day, but here it is
I'm looking to get a new graphics card since my old 650Ti Boost is struggling to run anything anymore
Since I'm a poorfag, budget is around 180 euros. And here lies the dilemma:
Should I get a brand new 1050Ti or try to catch a good, used GTX970?
Happy New Year bros
See if you can get an RX 470 instead since that will last a bit longer. But only if it's about the same price. Otherwise get the 1050ti. The 970 is already running into issues because of the 3.5 GB VRAM.
>>58259818
What kind of issues, Anon?
>>58259931
probably in regards to hitting the VRAM limit. It's especially bad for the 970 thanks to that """"""""""4gb""""""""" that causes games to treat it as if it has 4gb rather than 3.5, in regards to how much it decides to load into the frame buffer. The 970 would perform better if it was natively 3.5.

Vidya games moron detected. You should probably invest in smart tv or something. And stay away from computers.
why are we not seeing dramatic reductions in SSD prices anymore? 3D NAND was supposed to be make SSD capacity skyrocket
>>58259662
Supply and demand dumbass. Capacities have increased, we have 20TB+ SSDs now, but NAND production can't keep up with demand.
>>58259662
learn about chip foundries and how much it costs to set them up even when they aren't pushing the limits

What's the best OS software out there for wireless routers? I use a couple different ones.
dd-wrt

Where is the code stored, I want to look it over.

Why is everything so shit at scaling besides Mac OS?
Because Mac developers care about their UI design more than Windows developers.
The primary exception to this that I've seen on Windows are UWP apps.
>>58259583
It's the blur isn't it? The weird upscaling blur that appears on programs that support either outdated scaling methods or no scaling method? I hate it too. Only reason I'm on Ubuntu on this laptop is due to this blur. Linux is equal in this department, but at least programs that cannot scale are at least usable, and Wayland shows for a more OSX way of scaling that looks promising (although, at the moment, Wayland is slower than X11 for me).
>>58259780
And oddly the blur is worse in Windows 10 than it is in 7 or 8.1
Why doesnt Sony create a Nexus/Pixel phone ?
Has Sony ever leaned towards vanilla Android? Either way I think Google is pretty much done with collaboration like we've seen in the paste.
>>58260387
>Has Sony ever leaned towards vanilla Android?
Their ROMs aren't exactly bloated, apart from their apps. It's a much nicer Android experience than a lot of other garbage on the market.
>>58259526
Because it would outshine the rest of their gear.
Is repairing electronics a viable career option?
Not just repairing computers, but repairing game consoles, smartphones, etc.
>>58259420
consumer electronics would be the worst repair related option
you can get a trade that involves other types of repair though
>>58259420
I did that for a while
if you have the technical knowledge or can learn fast, and you don't have problem charging people a good % of what the devices themselves cost... then, yeah, you can make decent money, I guess.
otherwise, no, it sucks
some things are easier than others. for example, "formatting" a windows install from a disk image can take a few mins, while opening some laptops to clean the fans can take a lot of time, at least if you don't have the tools
>>58259725
oh, and as a career... no, it has no future. you don't "repair" things as people used to in the old days, you replace components. you can imagine that, since electronics are still getting cheaper and more powerful, we will simply replace whole devices in the future
Did you ever get a virus on a computer earlier than XP, /g/?
>>58259265
Old viruses had so much soul to them.
Yeah, tons.
Yes, on Windows 98. The fucker infected, i.e. copied itself to every EXE on the system (that's what virus did back then). But the retard virus programmer screwed up so I ended with almost every EXE in the system unable to run.
I just upgraded to Opera Dev Edition and got rid of Fagfox

Well, enjoy your chinese botnet

Nobody cares.
Is it THE way to do projects now, or is Agile a degenerate business major cuck meme?
I keep seeing everyone on hackernews saying they use it, but my CS professors don't know anything about it.
It was invented by actual software developers with decades of experience, but then business men started meddling and it all went to shit.
>>58259205
It's a decent methodology if you've got a project suitable for iterative development and need to keep multiple developers coordinated and stakeholders aprised. The most common example of such a project would be the any web site or the wrap-a-database-with-a-web-app-served-on-the-corporate-intranet "business apps" that corporations churn out constantly.
it's an enterprise buzzword for what should be standard project management.
/g/ I love mini PCs, lets talk about them.
Today I learned about the Dell Studio Hybrid (pic related) its super cute but it came out years ago so the specs are shitty
>>58259144
http://www.mini-box.com/s.nl/it.A/id.417/.f I was thinking about getting one of these for when I upgrade my PC, I could put my i3 in a teeny lil' minibox for my living room. It hooks up to a power brick I could hide behind the entertainment center.
Just grabbed a Chromebox. 150 off Amazon, handles a few windows on two monitors just fine, and puts off way less heat than my desktop.
That thing's beautiful, never knew Dell could into this kind of design.
What does /g/ think of Linus Sebastian?
I think if you actually wanted to know, you'd check the archives for the responses to any of the previous hundreds of instances of this thread
>>58258946
Im new to 4chan and I'm on a phone. There always has to be that one useless cunt such as yourself that adds nothing to the thread. Cheers bro.
>>58259107
>I'm on a phone
Of course you are. The shitty threads are always by phoneposters
>Terry Davis wrote a complete JIT compiler and kernel in Assembly on a single 640x480 screen.
>Linus Torvalds wrote the original Linux kernel on a single monitor, and a 386 CPU.
>/g/ """needs""" 3 monitors to be """productive"""
Hm
>>58258914
Only anons from /v/ use more than one monitor.
Nobody "needs" 3 monitors. It's helpful, nothing more. Nothing bad about utilizing the things you have to make things more easily and faster.
>>58258934
>more easily and faster
Debatable.
I can switch virtual desktops faster than I can turn my head and refocus my eyes.

Don't know about the left, but the alt-right seems to want to ctrl and del.
