From my understanding, in order to be a competent programmer, software engineer, etc. you need to be very good at teaching yourself stuff or can easily retain information (an autodidact I guess). After all, software development is 80% reading/understanding/learning and then only 20% actual coding. The learning done for software engineering is obviously different than a lot of crafts since you cannot rely on muscle memory to solve a lot of problems.
How many of you feel like you're very good at learning on your own? Would you consider yourself an autodidact?

Hey /g/, my buddy sold me his old gaming pc parts. In total I got an AMD Phenom II Black Edition 4x965 with stock cooler, AS Rock MOBO, 8gb of DDR3 RAM (Corsair Vengence), 1TB WD HDD, 600w Cooler Master PSU, various cables, ect.
I plan to OC the CPU and get an aftermarket cooler. An SSD will also be in the mix. What I want to know is what GPU I should get. I am looking for a 1080p experience and able to play latest titles at mid-high graphic settings. Budget is about $100-130. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Worth it to upgrade? Purchasing won't happen for a couple months. It's mostly used for gaming. Obviously only one cooler, still deciding which. Bought the 3770 3.5 years ago when I didn't understand what the K meant. If it was unlocked, I'd stick with it for another year or so.
I'm hoping Kaby pushes Skylake price down a bit. Or should I go with Kaby? I've read that the differences that will affect me aren't too great. Another option is to wait for next Tick cycle.

What ide do you guys use? I ask because I'm using visual studio for the first time since it is required at work and I love it; they also gave me a full msdn and I was putting it on my home machines.
