>Prove that Fib(n) is the closest integer to (φ^n)/√5, where φ = (1 + √5)/2.
Hint: Let ψ = (1 - √5)/2. Use induction and the definition of the Fibonacci numbers (see section 1.2.2) to prove that Fib(n) = (φ^n - ψ^n ) / √5.
What the fuck is this shit?!?!? How am I supposed to know how to do this? I didn't even know what the golden ratio actually was until I looked it up while researching the problem.
How can I be expected to inductively prove something when I just finished the very first chapter of the book?
I know that phi (φ) represents a number that is the result of (1 + √5)/2, by way of using that algebraic formula.
The other possible number, (1 - √5)/2, is represented by psi (ψ).
I also know the ratio, fib(n+1) / fib(n) approaches the value of φ as the fibonnaci sequence grows (as n increments).
How can I show that by placing n as the exponent of φ, the value of (φ^n)/√5 will be the fib (n)?
From wikipedia....
>any power of φ is equal to the sum of the two immediately preceding powers
Which is just another way of connecting the Fibonacci sequence and the golden ratio.
Other websites created base cases by using the equations in terms of psi and phi to calculate Fib (1) and Fib (0),
What can I do with this information? I know that the problem makes use of something called Binet's formula (or something similar).
...does anyone know SICP?
I'd love a hint, pls
there are probably other anons who will be able to help you more, but this is how i think you would do it
proof by induction should be fairly straightforward with the hint they gave you. if not, various proofs for the closed form of fibonacci numbers are probably widely available online. then since ψ^n = (-1/φ)^n, you could prove |ψ^n/sqrt(5)| < 1/2 for all n >= 0, which i found here
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fibonacci_number#Computation_by_rounding
which would complete the proof

Or is that completely unnessesarry?
>>58331952
Depends what you're doing and how much you really care about privacy.
>>58331952
I'm not a criminal and don't conduct any criminal activity over the phone. so there's no point.
but if your'e doing something illegal, get one for sure.
>>58331952
I have a burner phone I use with fake business cards with a fake name and Google account. I bring it when I travel that way if it gets stolen I can enable the tracking feature and watch as the dumbass that took it gets tracked with it. There's no removable battery and turning it off doesn't disable the tracking.
I use fake credentials for fun because at CES it's really easy to get expos to reveal their secrets more readily when you say you're an investor and have cards/email/etc to back it up. Last year at CES I got a Kickstarter to take me back to their truck (sounds gay) and show me a prototype drone they were working on. It was terrible but I actually put them in touch with a buddy of mine who hopped on their team doing legal work

there are lots of moduler in pip that won't work on Windows, or at least require an extensive setup of the build chain with Visual Studio

Is Windows 7 still a viable option for the modern PC gamer?
I was considering switching to it, but I play the latest games and was wondering if support still exists for Windows 7.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Yes, retard.

What is the smartest algorithm you know.
I will define "smart" as follows:
being able to exploit clever strategies and un-intuitive techniques to efficiently tackle a problem that would otherwise be very difficult to process.
the algorithm that makes your mom suck my dick in an infinite loop
sorting algorithms are taken for granted nowadays but they are very cool
R_QSqrt.
It's plugged in, but not charging.

How old is the battery? Try putting it to sleep so it has more power to charge.
>>58331653
I put it to sleep every night. It takes about a die for it to go down 1%. I only started noticing last week.
I'm not sure how old the battery is, since I got this from a friend. It's probably 5 or so years old
It's a Dell
>>58331683
That's really old for a laptop battery. It probably can't hold the same charge as it used to. Look up replacement batteries, it's old enough that they might be cheap.
It's worth buying GTX 1050 Ti 4GB for 1080p?
>Only 75W consume
I've been buying them for my poor friends, it does 1080p in most games at like 90fps on medium and just about 60 at high

Well done OP
Samsung hate thread; share your stories.
Just got back from vacation (Toronto) and had my phone completely shit on me (S7). It started looping during the encryption process and nothing would fix it (wiped cache, etc). Solidly pissed off to say the least. Worst part is that this isn't the first time this has happened.

Three years ago I got an S5
Kept as a treasure
One month later, I dropped it ONCE
Samsung said it was less costly to buy a new phone
Got an iPhone the week after
Still using it to this day
It's funny because I also drop it at least twice a day
