>a GTX 660 is still able to run any game
>but game debate says a 1080's ability to run games will drop over 100% in just 1 year and almost more by year 2
>but an Athlon II will still be able to play any game in 2 years as well
are the devs literally being payed to jew the games to force us to keep upgrading?

they're the only site that displays the actual requirements for min/max settings vs the devs requirements
also they're associated with logicalincriments
Should I switch my major to IT management?
Pros:
>the college I attend has the #1 IT undergrad program in the US
>the field is expanding really fast
>my cousin - who planted this idea in my head - graduated HS, got his certification, and worked his way up to where he is a director of the whole IT department at a Fortune 500 company in his mid 30s
>opportunities to make big $$ (for instance, my cousin)
>I have a very patient temperament - not the type of guy to get mad at people/be condescending
Cons:
>been reading threads on here over the past few days, and one guy said that IT people are on the lowest tier in the tech world
>I'm going to take his opinion with a grain of salt, but I do feel that my lack of coding knowledge might put me at a disadvantage (all I know is pretty basic HTML/CSS)
>afraid of ending up in a low level help desk job, with little upward mobility
One idea I have is to study IT, but also go to law school and specialize in cyber law (helping corporations write their EULAs, and filing claims in civil court against guy like Kim Dotcom) once I get out. I'm not sure, though, if the debt is worth it for a marginally higher salary -- I'm burning through all of my savings for undergrad.
Another thing I'm considering is working in IT for a year once I get out, saving $10,000 or so, and going to a really good coding bootcamp. That would be worth it, I think.
Basically, any insight into/advice about whether IT is something worth going into would be super appreciated :-)
Forgot to add: I'm currently studying Economics and American Studies, with the intent of going to law school
And I'm halfway through my freshman year right now, so it's not too late for me to change without fucking everything up

>#1 IT undergrad program in the US
What school and what do you want to do and what do you like. Take what the unemployed autist say with a grain of salt.

That is the whitest asian I have ever seen. Also, no stick with law school. You'll make more money.
I decided to live healthy, so I can live long enough to experience the singularity. I'm 25 right now, had a relatively unhealthy lifestyle the past 10 years. But i'm expecting to become 60 at the very least (I live in West-Europe).
When can I expect the singularity? Also any tips to increase my life duration?
>>58363999
>so I can live long enough to experience the singularity
Guys excepted communism in 1980, why would you think we'll reach singularity in 2050?
This chart is bullshit now, since it's MMXVII and mouse brain power isn't surpassed yet.
>tfw engaging in various forms of self destructive behaviour next to a stressful job that leaves people with ptsd
I already embraced a stroke before 40
>>58363999
becoming "healthy" at 25 would change your life expectancy, but it may be only about a few months.
just focus on creating good routines and habits, which would lead to a healthier lifestyle.
btw, singularity isn't going to come in our lifetime.
How do you achieve a silent or near silent PC?
I have an i5-4460 cooled by an h60 and a sapphire r9 390 in an obsidian 350d and this shit is too loud.
I've been relegated to keep it under my desk because if the noise.
>>58363959
Use proper water cooling you gimp
a REAL pc isnt silent. just overclock it to hell and blast music thats what i do lol.
By not being a fucking retard.
>The fluid in this server is boiling at 56 degrees celsius, cooling it more efficiently than traditional H2O-cooling.
Explain.
Explain what, cuck-boy
hurt to read that

when liquid changes phase, it draws off a large amount of energy in the form of heat.
This liquid is nonconductive and changes phase at a point well below normal operating temperatures for computers, making it more ideal than water for cooling a computer. It might have less thermal capacitance but can move the heat energy around more efficiently.
How would you recommend a lifelong windows baby completely move to linux? I've used Fedora on my laptop and I like it. But what about desktop? How do you do it?
I do it by being severely autistic.
Same way with laptop. Wtf kind of question is this? Fedora will work great on both. You might want to use the MATE desktop environment instead of Gnome 3 because it feels better suited to desktop.
I too would like to know.
I've used dual boot on my laptop for a while, but I haven't taken the jump to putting linux on the desktop yet.
Resting on their laurels for too long, shit marketing. I still think they have the best phone. User of BB Passport.

Two co-CEOs.
One CEO fucked off for months trying to buy a NHL team to fulfill his childhood dream of owning a pro hockey team.
The other CEO fucked off for months to build a theoretical physics research centre so that he can invite Prof. Stephen Hawking and rub dicks with him
This happened while Steve Jobs had already announced iPhone and had his sight on destroying BlackBerry and every other smartphone vendor.
Ignoring trends
When is this shit coming out?
>>58363777
Right when Zen kills it for good.
>>58364120
>muh zen
if zen's cheaper than $70 then yeah
It's out already.
Wow, it's almost like modularity in phones is a dumb idea
It's not dumb, it's just that normalfags don't want it and therefore companies can't make fat stacks of whores-and-cocaine money from it.
Really makes you think doesn't it?
If smartphones are computers just like desktops are computers, and no one wants modular smartphones, then that could only mean no one wants upgradeable PCs. meme

LG G5 was just a disappointment. Motoro... I mean Lenovo does it right so far.

First for fuck the KG recruiter.
first for sarek is /ourguy/
you can't spell cABal without AB
I fucked up and it may affect my whole family.
Got one of these in the mail today.
Did a quick google search and evidently Verizon set a limit around 100GB to kick off unlimited users.
I had no idea about this or I would have been monitoring my usage more closely to avoid risking this delicious cake I've been eating for nearly a decade.
How screwed am I?
Should I even bother to call verizon and plead with them?
"I won't do it again. I promise!"
Sounds like a good time to switch.

what carrier could /g/ suggest?
Sprint doesn't work in my area
did you think using mobile tier internet as a residential line would last forever?
you knew the ride had to end
just get a good local ISP that doesn't do any cancer caps
So is this not happening?
I need to know because I'm building a pc and I have all the parts but a GPU, if this isn't going to come out soon then I'll just get something else

Wait for Volta I promise it'll be 3 times faster than Pascal
>>58363818
Ok, then when is that? Im not gonna wait over 2 months for this shit
So I want a tablet form factor to draw on, but, Android and Applel have shit applications. Windows has all the good applications but Im probably gonna have to use a Desktop+Wacom tab or a 2 in 1 tablet laptop. That said I do prefer the portable option.
Anyone know of decent 2 in 1s for drawing? My budget is $500-700
Will one of these work?

And also if anyone has personal experience that would be appreciated too.
One last sad pathetic bump
https://www.extremetech.com/electronics/242123-kingston-announces-worlds-largest-capacity-2tb-flash-drive
>comes in both 1TB and 2TB varieties. They connect to the computer via a standard USB 3.1 Type-A port, not the new (and still rather rare) USB Type-C port. While that makes sense for the majority of devices right now, a Type-C port might have served the DataTraveler Ultimate Generation well in the near future.
>doesn't use USB-C
Why?
T H I C C
Because fuck macfags
>>58363562
Flash drives are the slowest tech when it comes to innovation, disregarding storage size. It's always been the same form for years now and whill always be blocks. iPhones will move to usbc before the majority of flash drives have them.
Question for all the Windows 10 users here. How much RAM does Windows 10 use? If you open the task manager as soon as the system boots, how much is being used?
>>58363551
I have 6gb ram and when I boot it up it uses about 50%, so 3gb ram.
2 gb for me
>>58363551
~800MB on my PC with 16GB RAM, but after like 20min it jumps to ~1.2GB and stays there for the most part when idle.
