Is this a good replacement for excel?

Our last topic on maths this semester is statistics. We won't do much and the prof won't even use SPSS and just focus on Excel. He said he never used R.
Is R a good replacement? I heard it is good and I am kinda interested in learning something new

Redpill me on portable music players
My phone's jack port is pretty much dead so instaed of having to buy a new phone I'm looking to buy a cheap music player. It musn't rely on a shitty piece of software to run, i.e. iTunes

I've noticed in the past few weeks problems emerging from using my paid-VPN.
I know...I know "don't use Windows". But some of the tools I need to use for my profession are only available on windows, and the alternatives are insufficient.
After a few minutes of usage, my anti-virus/internet security program will crash. The event log specifies it "terminated unexpectedly". The program restarts 1 second later. Then the link to my VPN will be severed.
Moments later, I get a "Failed to connect to server" event from MSIInstaller because the firewall component of the service forbids any non-VPN connecitons (I do this by specifying the MAC address of the TAP adapter in access rules).
After running Combofix each time this happens, I find an infected Version.dll in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 which has a valid digital signature but isn't the correct version of the dll. My ntuser file will also be infected.
These infections appear to operate as shells to grant backdoor access. Whoever is doing this is very good at what they're doing.
It's either an infection on the VPN server or it's an attack being carried out inbetween my computer and the server. They're not only exploiting an issue in OpenVPN, but also using a 0day which targets my specific security program.
I recall hearing about Rule 41 becoming law and am beginning to wonder if it's possible for the government to be doing this sort of thing so soon?
I doubt it is the government but I wanted to ask if any of you have experienced connection issues or issues with your security programs within the past month while using TOR or a VPN.
Worst case scenario I'll be reformatting and only running my VPN from within a VMware virtual machine...but if they already have a 0day to kill my AV program I wonder if they can attack a hypervisor too.

Who here /downgrade/ from a 'smart'phone here?

I've been contemplating a switch for a while now, I think I'm going to do it today. Going to run me at least 200 to pay off what's left on this phone plus new flip phone and activation though.

What challenges/inconveniences do you face without a computer at your fingertips, always? What device do you use for portable music? Navigation?

And most importantly, is it worth it? Do you have a clearer, calmer mind from not being constantly bombarded with useless information?

This phone is one of my last vices- last tether to the Old World if you will. I believe I'm nearly ready for the Angels to carry me away from this place.

How can i get IOS battery life on my android? I can get around 6 hours SOT right now using Instagram, snapchat, mimi and browsing. I'm using a custom kernel with exkernel manager and limiting the CPU to conserve battery. Any other tips other then buy an iPhone or 800$ phone?

I'm parsing files (Wiki pages, basically) using the re package in python (might not matter) and I'm having problem with the following. The structure is as such

This is read in as a STRING, i.e.
STRING = "=== Header1 ===\n[[link1]], [[link2]],\n[[link3]]\n=== Header2 ===\n[[link3]]\n=== Header3 ===\n[[link1]], [[link2]]"

Here the names are dummies. Names and quantity of headers and links is basically random

I'd like to get the data, e.g. in a dict.
