Best display resolutions based on size

above 5.5" 1440p

You don't sit close enough to large monitors or televisions to notice the difference in resolution, the same way your phone needs such a higher ppi

Eh, I'd say 15-24 is 1080 land, 24-29 is 1440 land, and above that is 2160 land.
15 inch laptops with 1366x768 are cancer
>>58424867
now this doesn't make any sense. even if you don't think 4k is that great or "worth it", it's objectively better than 1440p and 1080p. the only reason to take lower res is to safe money.
apart from that you should ask yourself why you make posts about this without owning a high dpi screen. you don't even know what you're talking about.

Have any of you been following upcoming phone rumors?
I have an upgrade in March, looking to trade in my s7 edge.. Saw the s8 leak and looks like shit. Was wondering if any of you knew of a good rectangular shaped phone coming out. Im not really a fan of the curvy samsungs anymore
Doesnt have to be 100% rectangle, just not as curvy and round as a galaxy

Opinions on non-root ad blockers for Android?
Adguard
Netguard
Dns66
AdClear
Block This
Right now I have Adguard installed, with pretty much the default settings. I know the reported battery stats are greatly skewed, but it still seems like it wrecks my battery. Ideally I'd just like an app that I can use to block ads in specific apps only.
Suggestions?
Firefox with noscript and ublock origin. Yes, on android.
I use DNS66. Virtually zero battery usage. I don't know about the others but I guess they too work by setting up a local VPN. DNS66 is also open source which is a plus.

This.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

t430s /8gig/no hdd/ wwan/ backlit/HD+/81+ battery
would be around 240euros, would that be too much ?
If the anon claimiing, that t430s is shit returns, please argument yourself. thx
So I was thinking of getting pic related ThinkPad X240. I know people say it's inferior to the X220 because of the keyboard, touchpad and price tag but I feel like I'm prepared to spend a little extra for it because of the following reasons:
- You can use this in public without looking like a tool
- Quality IPS display
- Much longer battery life without a splice that also makes you look like a tool
- Backlit keyboard
- It looks soo goood. It's something you'd actually want to be seen with
So what does /g/ think of the X240?
>inb4 we have an entire general for this, go back to /tpg/
thread is archived
The newer keyboard is objectively better, its mechanically identical and has a greater key surface area.
The reason people were pissed about the change is because of the layout, which isn't a real issue because you get used to it within hours.
Now tell me, /g/, which would you rather use in public
>>58421587
Neither. I'd be embarrassed to use a machine running Windows in public.
