I need to buy a bunch of cheap tablets that will be used as registers/POS systems, accepting credit cards and showing pictures & videos about the business when not in use. Any recommendations for durable workhorses that are cheap?
There are tablets made specially for that. Could go with old Samsung Galaxy tab 2 7.0. Lenovo makes good ones too.
yeah I found the lenovo yoga tab 3 new for $120, seems like a pretty great deal.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 is cheap and has a high res screen, has to be bought from China though.

Anyone else using Resilio Sync, formerly known as bittorrent sync?
Are there any good alternatives to sync files across different devices?
>>58454064
Resilio Sync is a botnet.
Use Syncthing.
>>58454064
Use Unison
>>58454064
use rsync
Is ease of use a legit argument to use this thing in 2017?
like everything, it depends. if you have tons of content in transparency slides and you don't have the resources to do a fancy computer-driven projector setup, then absolutely.
stop asking such stupid fucking questions.
>>58453933
If the content is old and printed, it's easier to copy it to transparent foil
Otherwise a projector and laptop is easier
>>58453933
or if the content is layered, like a map or diagram/graph

Seriously, ever since I moved and had a choice to get Verizon Fios... I've been a pretty happy customer. The router has all of the settings I need without third-party software, even setting up DMZ's and it has a nice firewall. The connection is fast and stable.
No complaints from my plex clients. Shit's cash.
>>58454060
yup, Verizon FiOS is based as fuck.
Frontier FiOS however... God help you.

I have a ton of old accounts and they are still alive and well

Inactivity does that.

Some companies (I can vouch for GMX) advertise IMAP as paid only but it works just as well with free accounts.
Anyone ever used a vertical mouse? My right arm is fucked from using normal mice and I think it could be helped by using a vertical mouse.
Still, I have some worries
>have to go around mouse to reach keyboard
>different kind of strain (no longer putting strain on wrist abductors, but you never know)
Thoughts? Recommendations?
I bet it's great but the memesters will laugh at you. That looks comfy too. It should be good if it's from a proper company like Logitech.
I got the 15$ wired vertical mouse with blue leds you see on amazon. Pretty comfy once you get used to it. I needed like 1 week to get back the precision I had with a normal mouse.
My wrist pain moved to my elbow and then disappeared in like a month. Would buy again.
>>58453473
I got an Anker vertical mouse.
It's great, best money I ever spent on a computer accessory. You won't regret it.
Do "printer firmware fixes" actually work? And where can one find them for free?
>>58453404
bump4 curiosity
>>58453404
What the fuck do you even mean?
You mean a firmware update?
>>58453485
No, most current printers have firmwares that are programmed to reject third-party inkt/toner so that you are forced to buy OEM expensive shit.
They even have built-in cartridge limitations, meaning that even by filling an OEM cartridge with new ink/toner, the printer will refuse to keep printing, saying that it is empty, and there is no way around it.
These supposed firmware fixes will disable the cartridge-page count, meaning that you'll be able to squeeze out as many pages out of a cartridge as you want and can just keep up refilling it which saves you like 95% of the cost

hey /g/ please help me solve this problem.
I have this external hard drive (western digital my passport ultra) which is broken.
In the next few weeks i've tried to repair it in many many ways but only today i managed to access to it via CHKDSK /F /R and i could transfer some file at a very slow pace. I could do this only after accepting to "empty the drive bin".
Is there a way i can fix this drive? Do you have any suggestions?
Not sure if it's FUBAR or not but you're probably better off just getting another.
shuck it and connect directly with sata and see what happens
>>58453475
I have to retrieve those files tho. I managed to save some...so it's not impossible i guess?
>>58453486
i can't because this kind of drive have a different port ..not a sata
