I wanna get a lightweight laptop with 7+ hours of battery life, don't care that much for specs as long as it's tolerable for everyday tasks and has an SSD
Preferably a metallic build since I've had a bad experience with plastic laptops
Suggestions?

The Asus Zenbook UX305FA goes for £400 refurbished on eBay so I figure you could find one for about $500 too.
- 8GB RAM
- M.2 SSD
- FHD IPS panel
- Long battery life
AIMP is the best music player.
You spelled Winamp wrong.
>>58454889
it IS winamp
>>58454949
No it isn't, you fucking retard.
Why don't laptops come with slots for them anymore?
Because USB exists now.
>>58454686
Because USB 3.0
Better fucking question, WHY DONT BUSINESS LAPTOPS COME WITH PROPER DOCKS ANYMORE!?
Its all this UBS fucking shit now. FUCK@ The point of a dock is to put your laptop away in a corner at your desk, and forget about it. Not fucking fiddle with it switching over AC adapters, hooking up USB lines, etc.
>>58454700
this. also, most people weren't using them.
you may notice conspicuously that most of the ports on your laptop see use pretty often. that's not coincidental.
>Linux is shit for gaming
Explain this.
>>58454685
>GNU + Linux
>Shit games
It is pretty easy to understand. Are you retarded.
>>58454685
I honestly use linux more for gaming than windows.(I just play portal 2, the wicher and some indies)
My windows partition is just a test site were i throw shit in and see if it works.
Which just now reminded me i haven't used the damn thing for over a year o.O
Linux is free only if your time is worthless. Windows 10 is amazing. If you're not a sperg you can also disable all the services that spy very easily.

What cant I find more info on the new HD 5X9 series of pooheiser?
What model is whatREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>>58454703
just add one number to the last series
518 = 519
558 = 559
598 = 599
they're basically just slight improvements over the old ones
>nothing to hide nothing to fear
Has anyone been able to disprove this?
bend over, citizen
>>58454541
ok so if not fearing it means you've got nothing to hide why do they spy on you regardless, I mean unless they don't believe their own reasoning?
We have the right to privacy, if we give up one right they have the power to take all our rights.
https://www.scmagazineuk.com/debugging-mechanism-in-intel-cpus-allows-seizing-control-via-usb-port/article/630340/
>Researchers from Positive Technologies have revealed that some new Intel CPUs contain a debugging interface, accessible via USB 3.0 ports, that can be used to obtain full control over a system and perform attacks that are undetectable by current security tools.
An attacker could use this to bypass all security systems for the embedding of code over a certain period of time, reading all possible data and even making the machine inoperative, for instance by re-writing its BIOS.
Joke's on them. I only have USB 2.0 ports.

How can one support artists (iow buy music) who release music only on iTunes, but without giving personal info/credit card number to Apple?
pirate it and mail them a cheque
ITunes gift cards....I assume are still sold everywhere
Stop listening to Taylor Swift for starters.
I'm looking for an addon for Chrome or Firefox that lets you quickly (like with a single click or keyboard command) step through a list of proxies for your connection. Anyone know of anything like that?
Use proxychains-ng like a real man
>>58454268
don't do it. it is illegal to do it
>>58454499
I don't know if that would do what I want, and I'm probably not advanced enough of a user to work it anyhow.
>>58454516
I'm not using it for anything that I'd make money off of.
Hello /g/, whats'up? Hope it's gittin gud for every gentooman out there. I have a question for you. How does the internet works? And more precisely, how does DNS works? I mean, what they do is converting www.trapdownmyass.com in 69.69.69.69:80 basically, right?
But how do they process this?
If you guys could suggest me even some book about how networks works i'll appreciate that. Thanks guys.
>>58454264
Fucking Google it you degenerate.
>>58454283
Why degenerate? The traps thing was a joke, Pedro.
Many people here are studying CS or CE, they probably can help me with a good book that is (at least for them) the best to read, i don't mind googling to understand things, i just want to know where to start
>>58454264
Look up DNS tables. Everything you want to know is already out there.

I think I've been misinformed my entire life about this concept. Can anyone clear this up.
So like CPU sockets. I know that Intel mainly created most of the modern socket type, and sold the rights to other companies.
Intel CPU comes out with a new type of socket, and then AMD comes out with a very similar design shortly after.
Example. Intel P5 architecture.
AMD, Cyrix, K6 all used this style of socket.
Then Intel made the Slot 1 socket for PII, and AMD followed with the Athlon in Slot A
Then Intel made the P4 style socket, and everything AMD has been making to this day remains very similar to that style of ZFI socket.
Is this true? Does Intel hold patterns on all these sockets that AMD, and some other companies use?
PCI, AGP, PCIe were all mostly spearheaded by Intel, and a few other companies.
Has AMD ever made anything?

Nope.

AMD made Bulldozer, which was so revolutionary to the point where it made AMD what they are now.
