Why? It worked way better before. You could do everything from the homepage and it didnt affect your video history. If there was one thing Google had right on YouTube it was notifications, and they've fucked it up hard for no reason. Why change shit when it's working just fine? Okay, so if you're not >underage you probably remember the bad old days of 56k. We all remember that it was slow as shit.
The thing is, not only was it slower in terms of bandwidth, but also in terms of latency. I remember playing QuakeWorld and such and experiencing ping times at least 50-100ms higher than cable or DSL.
So why did 56k have such latency issues? It's not because of the telephone system - DSL came along and was able to do lower-latency connections over those same lines.
