How does /g/ feel about mini PCs?
They may not have specs but they're cute and functional.
Do you guys have a mini PC? post it
>>58549355
I don't have any myself, but I usually set up customers with NUC UMPCs when it fits their needs. Tiny but still expandable in many ways.
Most Minis, unfortunately, really lack in terms of long-term reliability and overall quality. And the ones that do do well in those regards, cost so much more than a typical PC does, without really offering too much in return :\
Pointless.
well I have a mac mini and it's fucking shit.

VS the 2, why is it that an SSD is basically filled Micro SD cards and worth more than your common SSD?
I can get an 128 SSD for around 120, but then a mirco SSD is 50 or so?
I get performance but overall, what I don't get is, 1 is smaller than the other and can do.... something around the same
As my dad would say "aint alien technology amazing"
Why is a Ferrari 458 more expensive than a Toyota Corolla? They do the same thing don't they?
>>58549290
SSDs are much more hardened to the many writes that an operating system may put on them, a large micro SD card would give out in no time on a PC. Micro SD cards excel in phones where the only things being written to it are music and pictures and maybe videos.
most don't know about sd card based storage for desktop, there's 0 marketing put out so most consumers(even the smarter ones) don't know a thing about them.
if it was memed enough im sure it would catch on quite quickly

Definitely, peripherals with no moving parts:
WiFi / network adapters
DAC / ADC
Yes:
Motherboard
GPU (if you can tolerate possibly loud, old fans, or you will replace them)
CPU
RAM
HDD (if SMART values provided)
No:
SSD
Cases (often disgusting)
Keyboard/Mouse (often disgusting)

Are we living a cyberpunk world?
Probably. When I was a kid I was considered a dork to be into computers. Now every moron is addicted to them.

yes, but we are not the edgy hackers besting the stiff corporates, the people with skills are the stiff corporates and we are just memes

Why are there so many Indians on this site?
>>58548922
Because they have to pose their "intellect" somewhere.
Because its a cerebral name like Mensa, Ivy league and
reddit
everyone is going to try to fit in by using big words to impress other people.
>>58548922
Why is that a problem?
What laptops has the more confy keyboard /g/, IMHO is HP, I tried Dell and it was OK, Acer was not bad, but Toshiba almost gives me carpal tunnel syndrome, never tried Thinpads though.
Maybe meme but still think T420's keyboard is really good
I tried Dell's one, it was OK but nothing special. Same for new Lenovo ones, maybe they are a lil worse ( I mean, they are worse but usable)
Alienware desu (outside of thinkpads, which are still decent, but AWs still have full-depth scissor keyboards)
too bad they're so fugly
>tfw it's nearly impossible to find a laptop with an ergonomic split keyboard
I've been using Exodus and Phoenix and am happy for the most part. Sometimes streams are shit or none available for older movies and shows. Are these the standard ones to use for movies and PPV? Are there better ones?
I know there is a really kickass tv streamer provider that is only a dollar month and it has a clean layout like exodus

fuck you. piracy is about sharing not just getting free shit on demand. you're whats wrong with the internet.

If I want to sync my user settings between two computers, a desktop and a laptop, and both use KDE (one openSUSE Leap 42.2 and one Debian Stretch), I should be using Unison, yeah?
What folders should I sync? I'm assuming only /home, but which folders therein apart from the obvious like Documents?
.config;emacs;.emacs.d;.mozila;.gnupg;.bashrc;.gconf;.kde;.vim;.unison?
.unison seems like it might be a problem but I don't know what's in it yet
bin seems bad since some things in Debian's repos aren't in openSUSE's
Also, is there anything I should keep in mind? Is it bad form to set up a cron job to do it once a day or something when I'm at home?
Does the Debian CD 1 contain Lxqt? Is there any way to tell what comes on the CDs or DVDs?
When I installed it I really liked the refresh rate, but I can hardly tell the difference between 2k and 1080p. I've compared video games, images, and text and the difference isn't that big. My other monitor is 27inch 1080p. It's certainly crisper, but not really worth the premium.
I made sure all the setting were correct and I was using the S2716DG to it's max potential. Anyone else like this? Might return it for a cheaper 144hz monitor and just put the money to some other upgrades.
27 inch looks like shit on 1080p. I literally prefer my 24'' IPS to a 27'' IPS. I'm not even joking I swapped it for the 24''.
>>58548698
Woops, the monitor is 2k not 4k.
>>58548728
I am clearly blind or retarded because I'm staring at both monitors and the difference is too small IMO.
>>58548698
2k IS 1080p so that's probably why you can't see a difference
How come an abomination like USB3 ever left the lab and was allowed into consumer market? Was there ever a worse designed standard in history?

What would be the best OS for graphic design?
What system features should it have?

Windows 10 obviously. Mac is overpriced and unneeded, if you need good hardware build a better PC, still cheaper. Linux has nothing.

>>58548802
How's default font management on Windows 10? Is color profile management still as shielded and obscured as on Windows 7?
It doesn't seem the system is fundamentally good for design. It can be used but certainly not he best possible thing one can come up with.
