What's the deal with Chromebooks having really good build quality for such low prices? The Dell 11, Dell 13, Acer 14, Asus Flip C302, Samsung Plus/Pro, etc all have crazy high build quality for being sub-$600. On Winders, that price point only guarantees that the computer won't fall apart in one day.

Cause most chromebooks are marketed at k-12 schools for student use and most students, especially americans, treat everything like shit.
>>
>>58569806
Google does a lot of work bringing up the platform. If you notice, a lot of Chromebooks run on similar configurations (CPU, ports, etc). That probably helps bring down initial development costs a bit so the company can just focus on production.

Got a cheap Acer one in 2012, and it's still my daily driver when I'm away from the desktop. Sure, it's all plastic and cheap-looking, but it's held up very nicely over the years next to some Latitudes. It's only taken very light abuse, but I can tell it's still built to take some punishment.

I just wish the newer ones were more like this, with a full-access panel on the bottom, a real storage drive bay, and a no-bullshit keyboard. Looking to upgrade to something that has or will have Android support, however. The C710 will never see that.

I'm trying to convert a small office from W7 Pro 64 bit to Win 10, but I'm hitting the same error on all of the equipment.

All machines are within ~2 years old and are decently well-equipped (lowest spec of the group is an i5-4xxx, 8gb, 256gb SSD). During the upgrade attempt, I'm presented with the error code 0xc1900200.

Most search results show this being related to the "system reserved" partition being too small (100mb default for W7). Most users report success expanding the partition to 300-500mb, but I cannot get that to work in my case. I've made multiple attempts gradually expanding more and more, as much as 1.5GB free, and still receive the same error code.

Any help?

Simple fix here bud.

Create a script to backup everything to NFS. Afterwords, setup the Windows 10 installer to automatically use the preferences you've selected. MSDN has the guides you need.

Now, spin up a PXE server, and upgrade them all at once.

Enjoy juicy bonus.

If money doesn't matter to you
All laptops become obsolete because you can't upgrade them and the excessive heat of gaming laptops kill them even faster

I'd build a desktop for gaming and buy a cheapo laptop for basic shit
>>
The desktop equivalent literally costs half to make. Laptops have gotten a lot better compared to even a year ago, but you must consider if mobility is as important as the 200% markup.
>>
I think you should buy an actual razor blade and use it to and kill yourself.

just write a quick C program which has an overflow or a loop that goes out of bounds

do you have any advice for getting the same functionality of gdb out of lldb?
>>
>>58569372
Well crash uses gdb under the hood.

https://people.redhat.com/anderson/crash_whitepaper/#WHY_CRASH

I've used the classic echo 1 /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq && echo 'c' | sudo tee /proc/sysrq-trigger to cause crashes, but I really want to find a crash dump where I don't already know what I'm looking for.

I wonder do all these companies fight to take over the same companies or did no one want whatsapp only facebook wanted them seems odd that facebook of all companies got it
12 posts and 1 images submitted.

>>58568874
Whatsapp was acquired by facebook solely due to the fact that it was taking chat users away from facebook messenger. Instagram was purchased by them for the same reason. They are too large to create innovative services, so they need to purchase them to stay relevant in the industry.

You'll notice that Microsoft used its stash of overseas money (the stuff it doesn't pay tax on) to buy Skype. That way Skype effectively cost 2/3 of what Microsoft paid.
They paid over US$6Billion for aQuantive, a deal that has been called a waste of money.

WhatsApp selling for $19billion was the stupid thing I ever saw.

/g/, I have a chromebook that is basically useless to me, and I was thinking about wiping the drive and having it run OS/2 as the main operating system. Is this something I should pursue, or will it be a nightmare setting up drivers to actually properly use it? I would ideally like to be able to play PC-88 games.

Yeah drivers are going to fuck you in the ass. Install normal linux and use a virtual machine.

Question: Why would using OS/2 let you play pc-88 games?

Just your guys thoughts on this as most are aware the UK recently passed the most bullshit surveillance laws known to man forcing our ISP to track out internet connection data for 12 months now just off my game server logs for 2 months I don't see how they'll do this for every citizen but let's say they do so far the only way around it is to use a VPN

My question though is do you think the UK will band together to create basically a storage ddos attack for example they are gonna track my IP related accounts, the port used and the IP I was visiting and port. Wouldn't it technically be possible for us to give them dummy information with a basic bat script spamming opening and closing of webpages I'm assuming if a decent number of people did this their data mining would be less effective

Hello guys

A few days ago I ordered a refurbished laptop. Specifically it is the Asus Zenbook UX305. It has the Intel Core M3-6Y30 cpu and it is suppose to run at up to 2.2 GHz.

However while running a stress test on the system to test if all is running well(using prime 95) the cpu stays at a solid core speed of 1000MHz. More than half the speed of what was advertised. All the temperatures are normal so I shouldn't be thermal throttling. My concern is, could it be that when the laptop was refurbished, they had lowered the clock speed of the CPU to avoid crashes because in reality the system is still defective?

Check for battery power saving settings.
>>
>>58567987
I switched it to performance and it helped a bit. It's now running at 1200mhz but uy still no where near where it should be
>>
>>58567973
Could be the speed for single core or single thread. Are you doing a multi-core benchmark?

Because you're stupid. If you knew anything about the difficulty of setting up delivery networks you would know that the client-server model is much more readily scalable. But you don't, do you, you little shit? Instead you come to 4chan slash g slash to verbally vomit all over this board.
