Does anyone here use Solus? Is it actually a decent distro? How did it get so popular so quickly?
Just because people looked it up on that website, doesn't mean people are using it.
>Is it actually a decent distro?
Do you know what constitutes a distribution? If you don't look it up and stop asking subjective, meaningless buzzphrase questions.
Solus is actually terrible
I went to their website and it was a bunch of flat shit so the distro itself is almost certainly garbage.
Will this power supply work with Australian mains electricity: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/132043238323?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
It's from America, however in the specs it says the voltage is 230 volts. I thought American mains was 120 volts or something?
Thanks.

what?
>>58571277
not that guy but nowadays it's pretty hard to find anything that isn't 120-220v, everything is compatible with a simple outlet converter if the pins are different, no need to worry avout voltafe
you're fine
I have 2 wifi networks, one is my main one with a strong password that I regularly use and the other is for guests with an easy password that I just give out.
If someone manages to crack the guest wifi could they do anything to me while I'm on my main one?
>>58571198
Depends on how they're set up.
>>58571198
make sure AP isolation is enabled on the guest network
that isolates wireless clients on that guest SSID from the rest of your network
>>58571198
Probably not OP, most default wireless router configurations are pretty good with this kind of thing.
You should still consider increasing the security of the guest network though, just because there isn't really a point in having a strong password on your main network if I can get access to your internet connection through a less secure alternative.
Remember, a secure password isn't necessarily a difficult one. Make it a phrase, and throw in some numbers at the end, like 'ThisIsMyGuestWifi000'. This makes it hard to attack, but easy to communicate.
ITT post some top tier FOSS.

Hello /g/! I'm not from around this board at all but I figured it'd be my best hope to help out a buddy of mine. Guess I'll greentext it then sum it up.
>Have a bro
>Bro gets into shit
>Has a false rape charge filed against him
>Loses house
>In horrid debt
>Decide to help him out
>Start shelling cash out to help him, even beat his false rape case
>Bro promises to pay back the $3k I lent him
AlrightCool.gif
>Find out from another mutual friend that he's been talking shit
>He's trying to get everyone to go against me
>Wtf
>Try to reason with bro
>Isn't having it, tells me to fuck off
>Blocks me on all social media, even phone number is blocked
So, in short, my friend helped someone out that promised to pay friend back, didn't, and is now turning people against said friend.
My buddy just wants a dox of the guy he helped out, I have an FB slink to the profile of that'll help too.
This may be the wrong board to have posted this, but I figured it'd be the first, best place to check.

Why does my whole computer freeze for a fraction of a second while it's reading something from an external HDD or a DVD drive?
If the OS is multithreaded (I run Linux), why does the whole thing freeze?
I've noticed this on my laptop running Windows so it's not just something that happens with this PCs.
What's going on?
True multithread does not exist
>>58570404
HDD might have powered down and is spinning back up. Same shit happens on windows, except it's more than a second, it's fucking 3-5 seconds.
>>58570429
>HDD might have powered down and is spinning back up.
Yes, I understand that. But while the OS is waiting for something to be read from an external HDD, for example, the video I have inside of a browser freezes too. It doesn't play while some other application, in this case the file browser, is waiting for that data to be read.
What's going on? Some kind of an IRQ is getting triggered?
Anyone with some OS knowledge know for sure?
