Has anyone rooted their Sony Xperia z5? I'd appreciate if you'd share your experience. Everything I've read makes me think I could brick my phone pretty easily

In /csg/, we discuss the cheap shit you see on Gearbest, Taobao, AliExpress, Banggood, eBay and similar sites.
REMINDER:
Most purchases made after 19 January will get delayed or may not get shipped until 2 or even 4 Feb (depending on the store) because of the Chinese New Year, as most shipping companies will be closed for the holiday.

Is Poojitsoft trying to make W10 Education go away?
Yesterday they released the updated W10 ISOs, but Education was not among them.
Reminder: Education is the only W10 version that doesn't have Cortana.
Is it?
I have access to that version for free. Should I grab that one? I'm looking for the best version of Windows 10 that I can have, and I have no need for Cortana or any of those fucking "apps".

Is the firmware open source?
If not, can you mod it to run free software?
>capacitive touch screen

The concept is cool. The rest is pretty much not. While I would tell you to fuck off to /v/ that place is always going to have the same shit. So I'll give you my opinion instead.
It's really underpowered for its current price. The prospect of playing "big" titles on a portable sounds good, but then you have to take in account battery life, temperature and such things. It seems to be featureless, aside from gaming you can't do much with it and, to be honest it had the potential to also be a normal tablet for them normies, which would probably convince a lot more people, but nah, just games, without backwards compatibility.
The online subscription system is also nuts, unless it's priced fairly which we don't know yet. Priced fairly means half of what the competition costs, considering they're also not offering much with the service (renting a SNES game worked 24 years ago, not now).
Really it's only going to be worth 66% its price when it's open and modded to a level where you can put more things on it than emulators. For now though? Save your money. Don't buy a PS4 either. Get something else, like a thinkpad. Pretty fun device.
Why do I feel like I'm being scammed if I want a decent monitor?
Anything that isn't 1080p 60Hz is way more expensive, especially higher resolutions.
I just want a 24-28" that is over 100Hz or over 1080p (ideally both) for a reasonable price.
why do you need a resolution over 1080p?
>>58572383
To have more windows open at once.
>>58572346
Dont fall for the 4k meme ya fuckwit.
and how scaling works... you wont have more windows open with a higher resolution...
It'll just be sharp.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).
----
If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.
