What programming language should I use to build a command line audio player for linux?
It's going to operate in the background similar to mpd but it won't catalog songs, instead you'll be expected to script other programs (I'm going to use ranger) to interact with it.
I want it to work with pulseaudio because it's what my OS has by default. I know Go but there aren't very many good libraries for working with pulseaudio/sound.
whichever language you're most comfortable with, that has the libraries that you know how to use. like every other project
j/k do it all in assembly

>What programming language should I use
any question that starts with this == "i don't know what the fuck i'm doing help me guize", idk, do it in fuckin python, is that the answer you want? spend the next week learning haskell. that'll fix your problem!
>I know Go
no you don't
>>58582817
seriously you sound like the kid in 2nd grade who thinks he's cool because he can rattle off all 50 states in order. shut the fuck up and go figure it out yourself.
>I want it to work with pulseaudio because it's what my OS has by default
i thought you were trying to get something to play your audio files from the command line you dumb piece of shit. do you even know what you're saying?
>/g/ faps over handheld PCs
>nobody here builds Raspberry Pi-based handhelds
Why don't you just build your own handheld PC?
>>58582777
Because purchasing dated used UMPCs gives you better size/specs for the cost. I looked into it previously and it really isn't worth it for what you get.
>>58582777
Because ARM is fucking shit.
>>58582777
That's like asking why no one makes their own laptop
How did your distro hopping journey end?
I went from Mint, to Debian to Fedora to Arch only to end up right back with Mint
>>58582705
Lubuntu, Arch, Debian LXDE, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Debian GNOME, Mint, Debian MATE, Debian LXDE.
Ubuntu, Suse, Kubuntu, Arch, Kubuntu
I think I've found the best and most supported KDE distro around. I don't think I'll be experimenting any further with a side/hobby OS.

How long does /g/ spend on their phone?
>>58582701
zero minutes. I don't own a personal tracking device.
Not long
>>58582701
if you use a pc so much, isn't it better to use a more comfortable pc, like a desktop or notebook?
or you are forced to move around a lot?
what the fuck were they thinking?
>>58582667
How dare you insult the people who reinvented the wheel, you insolent fool.
>>58582667
To put their penis on the hole
But then they noticed it was more easy to more to shape it like a circle
And voila
How long do you think it took?
How long did some sloped-foreheaded caveman spend rolling shit down a hill trying to piece together how it worked? How many restless nights did he spend staring at his cave paintings trying to harness the technology of the mighty hill and bring it to the flatland of the common folk?
Do you think he died before he ever realized his dreams, only for some asshole to come along and steal all his hard work?
Do you think that asshole then went on to produce the first wheel, but never received recognition because some other even bigger asshole copied it and marketed it better?
I be bet the stone wheel bubble caused a stick market crash when it finally burst.

Hello /g/ I come to you with this in mind. I recently got a new webcam it's a logitec c930e in pic. Pretty good camera. Now this is where I need guidance. I use a program called action to record my gameplay/screen. It does a fantastic job amd records everything at ultra hd. It even allows me to have my webcam in the corner of the recordings while I capture gameplay. The only down side is that it does not have an option to only record the webcam, which sucks considering what great quality it records in. I have downloaded a few run at the mill programs, including obs, xsplit and a small portable one. None of which can obtain thr hd quality that action can. So I ask you. What is a good webcam recording software that holds its hd quality??
>>58582633
I have a similar came and have run into the same issue.
I tried using vegas and that didn't work too well. The best luck I had was using the shitty logitech software that is pack in with the thing. If you poke around the settings you'll find a way to not compress the video so much. Also, CHEESE on loonix does a great job recording but you windows
>>58582651
Man what sucks about this particular version it came with no software. It had a link in the manual to their site where it had a light control software. But nothing to record. I don't understand logitec and their thught process.
I might try Sony vegas pro and see how it turns out.
/v/ hates Denuvo because it can prevent modding and it's a pain if you have to update your OS or change hardware. But I've also heard it can damage certain PC parts, like SSDs, and that it makes games run worse. Is this true?
B-bump?
I hope every gamer's computer dies.

WHY IS is2.4chan.org SO FUCKING SLOW

What does /g/ recommend for an in-home security system that I can securely monitor while away? No wireless solutions please and nothing that streams to Belkin or any other NSA friendly server site. I prefer a system I can tie into a secure/encrypted home server

I was searching informations on this too, I thought of using a rPi with multiple cam modules, connected in tethering to a cheap android phone with a dedicated sim, to keep always online so I can check it remotely when I'm not home, all plugged to an UPS.
>>58583639
>cheap android phone with a dedicated sim
are you retarded?
that's what 3g modules for arduino/rPi are for.
Python virgin here, just started my first programming class in Uni and was wondering if there was a way to use the print function with quotations as well. The code is calculating the break-even point of a company, and as with the input, I would like the program to print a sentence in the output. The problem is that I am getting a syntax error when trying to do this.
Can anyone help me?#This program will calcuate the break-even point of a company.
print("This program will calculate the break-even point of the company.")
fixedcosts=5000
priceperunit=8
costperunit=6
breakevenpoint=fixedcosts/(priceperunit-costperunit)
print("The break-even point of this company is"breakevenpoint".")
Python is telling me that the syntax error is inbreakevenpointwithin the final line.
>>58582351
check the format function
>>58582351
print("The break-even point of this company is" + str(breakevenpoint) + ".")
Next time use the stupid questions thread, please.
Why is this such a fucking clusterfuck?
Why is it that I have to unplug every single fucking hard drive other than the one I want to install Windows on before it stops spitting out error messages and actually lets me install the damn OS?
If you're such a retard you can't even install windows, then I have bad news for you buddy

It's not my fault the pajeets apparently can't handle two drives being plugged into a system
