Should I get into mam?
Hey /g/, i want to buy some cheap ass 7" or 10" tablet, most probably chinese from aliexpress or whatsoever that has at least a little support, that can be rooted so i can mod my shit, even custom roms arw a go but not needed.. Anyone have any suggestions?
Pic related, its a tablet
used HP Touchpad
>>58630514
>HP Touchpad
I have two of these kicking around and no idea what to do with them.
>>58630317
Nvidia shield k1 ain't bad at $200, don't know what you consider cheap. Build quality isn't great (screen cracked easily on my first one but Amazon replaced for free) so a thick case is probably a good idea if you can't treat it gently. It's the closest thing I've found to a modern nexus 7 in this market.
Pros:
Nice form factor
Decent performance
Ui is close to stock Android
Not much bloatware
Pretty good speakers
Cons:
Sub par build quality
One of the nvidia apps puts an ad in my notifications occasionally
LUL MEME NVIDIA TABLET U FAGGET
is it any good for people that haven't coded before? I'm a coder and was curious if when people ask me where do I start, I should redirect them to here.
drag and drop is a meme though
>>58630305
Meh, show em Python or Ruby or some other easy-to-learn language. These things aren't good for learning to code, because, well, there's no coding happening here. They are okay for learning to build basic algorithms, I guess? But even then, I think learning that in conjunction with an actual ''''easy'''' programming language is the best idea, so there's no difficulty spike when switching to one.
>>58630346
This is much more constructive than sending them off to a drag-and-drop fuckfest
so freecodecamp and no job after 2500 hours?
I heard there are no jobs for coders and even if you are a software engineer... you have to be better than the indians...
>>58630258
>I heard there are no jobs for coders and even if you are a software engineer
You heard wrong.
WTF is he a Black Chinese????
>>58630384
No, he's just an African with mongoloid facial traits.

Would you consider applying some inentional screwdriver action to your GPU if you needed it to be replaced and customer support was refusing to aknowledge the problem?
maybe if i was 5 years old and had mental issues
>>58630185
I would just never ever buy there anything again and move to a supplier not being a bitch with warranties.
obviously it's just an hypotetical question, but imagine:
(A) the GPU would shut off after being used 60 minutes
(B) the customer support only tests if the system turns on
(C) you can mess with the card without the customer support finding out
>required extremely careful manufacture, almost always carried out by hand in spite of repeated major efforts to automate the process
why was is so hard to automate this?
weaving has been automated centuries ago
>>58630183
>why was is so hard to automate this?
before they made an efficient process for manufacturing core memory, transistors became widely used
>>58630183
Flexible materials have infinite degrees of freedom.
They did automate it. Apollo spacecraft had rope memory that was knitted by machine that took in punch cards
I still have no clue how core memory functioned.

Do you have any idea how old and vulnerable that is? Why would you buy that? My Nexus 5 from 2013 has Android 7.1.1. Just buy the iShit because you're obviously a retard.

Why are adblockers not easily circumvented? Why don't lil webbies just route the ads through their damn server to get around blacklists? Why do I have to see these "turn of adblock we're poor" fucking safescreens that I have to suffer through turning off in the console? Please /g/ explain the shitshow of web ads to me
I think the server owner would have to be in a direct contract with the business looking to advertise in that case, instead of an advertising agency
>>58629779
>Why are adblockers not easily circumvented?
They are, but most ad networks have not implemented circumvention measures yet.
>Why do I have to see these "turn of adblock we're poor" fucking safescreens that I have to suffer through turning off in the console?
Exactly because some sites can circumvent adblockers, but choose to present you with a message because circumventing adblockers would just lead to escalating measures to block ads. This is a war where the ad agencies only lose because large corporations are much slower to adapt than small browser add-ons.
In the end, the only way to ensure the consumer sees ads is to bake them directly into the content; eventually this will be the only cost-effective measure.
It's not that inconvenient to block elements with a right click. Never enter the full console.
Firefox nightly 54 just came out.
Can't seem to find a changelog anywhere though. Does anyone know what was added?
>uses firefox for muh privacy.
>uses nightly builds with loads of tacked on telemetry.
Are people still using firefox at this point just stubborn and afraid of change?
>>58629777
>$CURRENT YEAR
>he hasn't figured out you can turn off the telemetry
>>58629687
Nightly basically continually changes, so only other releases get changelogs. Look for 53 changelogs to get an idea of what changed recently.
>it's middle of the night, PC is in rest mode

They're watching me, are they?
Could be scheduled updates
yes and they need to run maintenance protocols for their spy devices

Would you buy this? I personally wouldn't unless it came with triple monitor support.
