Anons, are there any good hardening guides for Windows 7 or 10 for desktop machines?
I need to setup a nice and secure Windows System for graphic related work. I tried OSX for an half year, but it is pure shit. I hate the interface and just everything else about it. It is not the same like it was a few years ago. I rather install Windows again after nerding out the last 6 years on Linux.
I just looked into the current AV solutions and I think Bitdefender is considered the best on the site with Kaspersky. Although Bitdefender seems to be much better performance wise.
So what do you Windows users do for your security?
in before: AVs are snailoil, use brain.exe its the best, you don't need any AV. And thats where most people are retarded.
I hate all the people who say "I didnt had any AV for years and I never had a trojan/rootkit/virus"
The funny thing is, how would these people even ever know it, if they never scanned their PC?
Even if you don't download from unknown sources and dont open shitty emails and whatever.
You can always get pwned by some 0day. Every day. And you will not even notice it. And ypu don't even have to have Flash/Java for that installed.
So an AV like Bitdefender/Kaspersky is not a bad thing, computers these days have enough RAM for this stuff.
Of course you should disable Flash/Java as the first step.
My question is, where do I find some good Windows hardening information? Are there any subreddits for it?
I thought that was hot, then I noticed they were bitcoin mining rigs

Idk if this is the right thread for this, but what would be a good (hopefully inexpensive) cassete recorder that will allow me to record the audio from my phone
I was going to plug my phone into the mic jack and then just record the music i have on itunes
Does it need to be directly from your phone? Transferring it to a PC first would make things easier.
Are you mentally retarded or just a fucking idiot?
Intel relies on Single Threaded programs, Nvidia relies on <DX12/Vulkan programs.
/g/ still acts like they care about improving tech, yet defend these companies.

Neither of those statements are true though

Are you implying that a $120 FX 83** won't beat a $120 i3 in a multithreaded workload? Or that an RX480 won't beat a 1060 in a Vulkan or DX12?
What is denial for $400?
Why can't I run it?
Because you're a retard.

So, how do you do it?
I currently have 3 old external hdds for a total of 6tb. I'm aware this is a disaster waiting to happen. What do you think is the most efficient way to store data for "long" periods of time?
Paint the bits on a cave wall like the prehistorical people did. Your data will be safe for thousands of years!!
Or maybe burn the data onto blurays or dvds and store them in airtight bags.
Cloud storage is an option, too.
I think the abswer is redundancy.
I have my bulk files in my server which has an automatic back up as well as the having drives in a raid configuration. I also have external drives which I back he'd at a on to monthly, flash zip sticks with the more important data, and blu rays with the most crucial data on them.

>I think the answer is redundancy.
You can say that again.
But you need to diversify your redundancy.
I saw a RAID array crippled by the failure of disks that were all from the same faulty batch.
Eggs, basket, you know.
How do I learn how to write clean and professional code? I'm not from a CS background so the code I write tends to be terribly organized and planned. Is it something that comes with experience?
yes, it comes with experience. You get better at coding by coding.
>you're a big pill
Step 1: FLOWCHART
Step 2: LERN 2 FLOWCHART
Step 3: Srsly though, flowcharting will help you so much. Alot of times if I have to write something, I'll have it 90% done by flowcharting, and then just have to translate it into the language.
As far as organizing, just find a good syntax and stick with it, all the time. Be very specific about your brackets etc and indentation to make your code more presentable.
>mfw the G series is moving backwards
look at dat bezel hahahaha
after moto g2, the G series went to shit in design and price
That's ugly, what the fuck Lenovo, just reuse the Moto G4's design or something even that was better.

This one I saw today with Chrome. When you have open a lot of Incognito tabs, the tab-counter becomes a ";)" face.
Normal tabs become :D and if you flick the tabs in the tab menu enough they spin.
