It says right here that you are experienced with Linux,
but Linux is just a kernel.
Do you mean Android?

I'm experienced with kernel development, you suitnigger

How much do IT people give a shit about what you do on the internet while at work? I want to watch some cartoons but streaming sites are kinda dodgy.
>>58649295
>being blatantly off topic at work
I hope you at least have your own office if you're doing this. Or work from home. Shouldn't the VPN/proxy block those sites on grounds of muh malware anyway?
>>58649295
Use an adblocker to avoid most malware that streaming sites have.
If you're a Chad or Stacy, you WILL be stalked by the smelly, autistic, permavirginal sysadmin. Otherwise you have nothing to worry about.
Why do you continue to license under permissive licenses in 2017? Even linus thinks they're dumb.
>>58649174
>permissive
Is that somekind of hateful label for non-restricting?
Linus is a goddamn retard, I can name a bunch of successful and great open source software projects under non-restricting licenses just off the top of my head: PostgreSQL, Python, X.org, Node.js, Fossil (which is much better than that overengineered piece of shit Git, btw), OpenSSH, OpenSSL, Nginx, Clang, et cetera ad nauseam...
Grow up, you idiot.

Grow up faggots.
Permissive licenses are garbage and always have been. Typically the only people who like them are neckbeards who think capitalism and freedom are synonymous.

/g/,
I am trying to do something in MS Access using SQL which I am sure has a very easy answer - I'm a mug however so need help...
Within my database, there is a field called ID which consists of four letters followed by a random length of numbers and letters after. I have 150 IDs that I need to extract from the database.
I have tried using:
SELECT .............
FROM ........
WHERE [ID] LIKE 'XXXX*'
OR [ID] LIKE 'XXXX*'
OR [ID] LIKE 'XXXX*'
OR [ID] LIKE 'XXXX*'
OR [ID] LIKE 'XXXX*'
OR [ID] LIKE 'XXXX*'
etc
etc
etc
But realise this is fucking retarded - there must be a better way? Additionally this potato method can't do more than 100 IDs at once. How do I do 150 in one go?
I know this is probably stupidly easy but google hasn't helped so you're my only hope
>people actually spend their lives doing this as a career
>>58648667
Try subqueries.
You have a list of 150 four-letter combinations?
>>58648737
I literally looked at SQL for the first time ever yesterday - no idea what these are but will investigate, thanks.
I do - that bit was pretty easy as the list came from an excel.

What's that word for when you realise that you'll look back at the previous year and three quarters and realise it was completely wasted?
>finished a degree I hated
>worked retailcuck part time jobs
>barely read more than 5 books
>did maybe a month's worth of productive stuff in my free time
>went to the gym regularly and lifts went up but ate lots of junk food and had coffee enough to harm sleep at times
>main hobby is taking walks or driving and feeling sad about my life and telling myself I will work extremely hard to learn productive skills tomorrow
>wasted gigantic amounts of time on internet and 4chan browsing
>told myself every day that I'd start working hard and eating healthily tomorrow and having genuine false hope almost every time
I can't motivate myself to work hard on anything or have goals. I know other people have quarter life crises but my life is fucking zooming past, not due to a boring 9-5 job but my inability to do anything with my free time.
I am a Stirnerite that knows deep down that all advice is trivial and worthless.
I hate that there are ten trillion topics considered important and that there is always someone willing to call you a retard if you don't know it. I fully realise that it's all social signalling nonsense. Yet it still weighs on me. There's always someone willing to say you only need to work hard if you're stupid. Or you're stupid not to work hard. Or that procrastination is great- or not. Or anything.
I feel like everything is so trivial it's not worth doing or extremely frustrating and out of my reach.
I see successful people and almost all of them just got in to the right institutions and took the elevator up with tonnes of support. I go to graduate assessment days and am surrounded by normie clones who are interviewed by their normie clones. I have almost no chance. And these are interviews for "respected" jobs that usually do pointless things.
are you going to post this to every single board now?
>>58648545
>barely read more than 5 books
There's no worth in reading books. If you think you'll become smart that way, you're using flawed normie logic that confuses symbol with reality. "Them old professor folk sure read a lot of books, I bet I can be as wise as classy as that".
>went to the gym regularly and lifts went up but ate lots of junk food and had coffee enough to harm sleep at times
This one must sting. When you're at your deathbed, you'll regret that time when you went to gym regularly and lifts went up but ate lots of junk food and had coffee enough to harm sleep at times.
Anyway, you need to fug a lot and become really arrogant.

Other business laptops are also welcome in /tpg/ (e.g. Dell Latitude/Precision, HP EliteBook/ZBook).

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experience™
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
