AWS is quite nice - it's popular, and has tonnes of features, but can be expensive.
You could probably do some neat things with S3 and Glacier for file storage, if you're storing a lot of data and want to keep your costs down.

first, why do you need a file server?
you could use dropbox or any other cloud storage provider
or run it on your local network and expose it w/ port forwarding
if not then AWS is pretty much the gold standard but i wouldnt pay the premium for personal use because i dont need ultra mega quadruple data durability and redundancy

Why all the VLC hate threads lately?
It's still a good open source media player that supports every format imaginable and works well.
It's the default across so many operating systems and distros for a reason. I thought /g/ loved it when open source software was better than its proprietary counterparts.

Thats the whole point. The big boys only provide excellent services and value if they continue to compete. If someone better comes along, those big boys should feel pressure to compete on the quality and value of their service. Now instead of competing they can just make deals with ISPs to slow down their competitors (making themselves faster is the same thing as making their competitors slower). They can use their current size, rather than the quality and value of their service, to defeat their competition.
This is classic economics. The death of net neutrality is an overall loss to the consumer.

I used to use BlackPlayer but it doesn't find some of my albums, plus it sometimes randomly turns itself on.
Currently using PowerAmp. Bretty gud but it's just a free trial and I never spend money on an app on principal.

The pc I built years ago has been fine until now. For some reason, soon after logging in I get blue screen of death with no error code. The computer is moving much more sluggishly so I reseated the ram. This wasn't the problem as my pc detects both sticks and they don't seem to have any load on them. I thought it might have been the hard drive so I installed Windows on an empty old hdd I had laying around but it's still doing the same thing. Has anyone had anything similar to this happen before? I'm losing my mind and need my pc for schoolwork.
