What's the best way for applying thermal paste on cpu ?
It's the first time i'm going to di this and i keep seeing different methods about that...
A dot in the middle is perfectly fine, don't get memed into spreading it on the whole IHS.

>i keep seeing different methods about that...
Well then pick one that suits you the best and get on with it you cock mongler.
Remember the next time before you post such abysmally stupid question.
If there are multiple methods of doing something, it means that none of them are "the best".

Put a pea sized dot in the center and let the heatsink spread it.
It has recently come to my attention that a now rather large part of 4chan is anti net neutrality. How does /g/ feel about it?
Retards are everywhere. Nothing new.

Why can't we have both?
>>58674993
UX/UI didn't matter that much in the past because it was perceived as a bonus. Everyone who used computers were autistic anyway so what's the point in making it glimmer?
Today normies make a big portion of people who use computers, so naturally developers want to invest more in visual appeal and ease of use. Marketing a beautiful product that works is more effective than marketing a product that works but looks like dogshit.
Things are changing slowly.
>>58674993
Wrong question.
Why whould you """need'''''' both? Function over form. Form is irrelevant.
We already had, but companies rejected it.

Hello everyone. I am doing some research for my final major dissertation and my topic is about how design and technology influence the future of retail design.
There are few areas that I have been looking at, such as concept stores, Beacons, Mobile payment, Virtual reality in retail, Touch screen technology
Would be much appreciate if you could leave your comments and expand your ideas and thoughts on the topic.
Thank you :-)
Shit's gay and fuck you.
>>58674885
so we're supposed to do your research for you? fuck off. It's rude to ask people to work for free, you know?
Also, if you are one of those people "innovating" on annoying me in stores in the future, please kys right now
>>58674885
You can transmit some real nasty eye disease through that.
Just wait another year for Cannonlake, silly goy!
Don't you like refreshes? We have Coffeelake after kaby, be grateful there aren't more!

14nm Coffee Lake on the desktop in 2018
Either 10nm Cannonlake or 10nm refresh Ice Lake on desktop in 2019.
10nm Tiger Lake in 2020.
Better hope they don't have another 10nm refresh in 2021.
>>58674899
Remember when CannonLake was supposed to be out after Skylake, in 2016?
Remember when refreshes like Haslel's Devil's Canyon, Kaby, Coffee and who know what Intel will come up next weren't supposed to even exist?
>>58675000
Over reach your grasp and this is what you get.
Intel tried to radically outpace the rest of the industry after their 22nm Trigate node, and they've paid for it. They're still paying for it actually.
Samsung has 10nm parts in issue free mass production right now. The Qualcomm S835 is, or would be available for purchase, except Samsung themselves bought all the available chips. They have their own Exynos chips in production right now as well. Two independent 10nm designs in volume production. You could argue that intel's 10nm node is denser, which is true, but intel's 10nm parts won't reach market until the end of 2017, and their high performance mainstream desktop parts in 2018 will still be 14nm. Density doesn't account for much if every other metric is poor.
AMD at least seems to have gotten lucky with Samsung's 14nm LPP process performing well for their Ryzen parts. They may produce a second generation of chips on the node, its unknown yet. Future parts could be 14nm HP, which is technically a IBM design SOI based process. They might end up skipping that all together and going right to 7nm SOI if yields are high enough.
Regardless of how the specifics play out, intel's perceived domination of the foundry world is now entirely dead. All that fanboys can argue about is nuanced backend metrics which have no real bearing on performance. They hold no real advantage. Chipzilla is weakening.

It's the unfortunate truth that Apple takes device security more seriously than Google. This is coming from an android user.

I have an Nvidia card and I run GNU/Linux... and I use binary drivers. I know, I know... but nouveau is even worse.
Every time I suspend my PC and then wake it up, Xorg display driver goes insane and I have to press the reset sometimes because all I see is the black screen and sometimes I see random pixels moving when I move my mouse. It's driving me nuts because I have to shutdown every night.
Xorg is basically autogenerated by nvidia-setup and I basically just followed Arch wiki. Everything's fine and perfect... until I suspend the PC and then wake it up.
No idea how to solve this. been looking all over the web with no luck Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't be the only one experiencing this...
Just built my first computer and I think the mother board is fried but the leds on it still turn on and I can plug my phone into the USB and charge it, I think I found what might have caused the problem but I'm not sure. Could use help. I think it's a legit manufacturing defect. MObo is asus prime z270-p
Those are the LEDs when the computer us off but plugged in
Here's the ram, and I don't have a picture but the gpu is also on and lighting up, I'm just unsure why it's able to do this if the motherboard is broken.
I also have a system speaker and it makes no noise when it turns on
> he unironically encrypts entire drives and not just the file he wants encrypted
you done fooled senpai, you only need to use 7zip and encrypt 1 file to 256bit
that way you have super efficiency without having to encrypt system files
the only reason your average /g/entleman would need file encryption is illegal porn

When did HPE go to shit
Why use integrated NICs? Even Dell has yhem replacable in a 1u case.
>>58674345
No idea why they were set up like that in the first place but until I saw these failures I would have has no reservations about using the integrated ports. Hell the iLo port is integrated

Buy more hard drives. You shouldn't delete anything unless it's incriminating.
I listened to my fellow /g/uadalajarenses and pulled the trigger on an i5-2500K central processing unit and 16 gibibytes of random access memory.
Should I have gone with a more recent processor? Or will I be impressed enough with the jump from an i5-2520M?
>>58674008
It's still a fairly capable chip but it is showing its age. I have one and run it at 3.7 ghz most of the time as most games don't demand much more of it but newer games sometimes require higher clockspeeds of around 4+ ghz. If you got all of those parts for a good price it's not too bad, but the biggest thing is just more features like more sata 6 slots, pcie 3.0 and more usb3 ports on newer motherboards, as well as slightly better per clock performance, newer features and less power consumption. But as I said it's a solid chip still and with a decent cooler most will hit 4.4ghz or so no problem.
>>58674054
I will probably keep it around its stock clock, but I just like the option of being able to overclock.
I got the CPU for $85 and the RAM for $90. I feel that these are reasonable prices.
Lastly, I'm not much of a gamer, just an enthusiast building a desktop, so I think that it will hold up pretty well.
I still use my 2400 for gaymen and it holds up ok, the 2500k is the GOAT and $85 is a great deal
