Problem is not just linux. If someone has access to Administrator or SYSTEM on a windows machine, it's just as dangerous as if someone has to root on a linux machine. Basically full and total control.

However, as long as you don't actually run your apps as root, you're safe (short of any new privelage escalation exploit being discovered)

But OP, most "VR games" are not games but "experiences". Of course it's going to be fucking boring after the first 5 minutes. Nothing exciting has happened in the world of VR yet, and the way I see it, nothing will happen in the next 10 years either except for a niche crowd owning it and pretending to be all high and mighty to us 2D monitor plebs.

Porn is slowly assisting in the spread of VR but it's not enough, especially when the technology for actual VR (above cardboard level) is ridiculously overpriced.

All big social websites have "liability control methods" where they make certain users less accessible to the public if they pose certain threats to the corporate interests. Usually these "Liability controls" are not disclosed to the end users.

Ebay might be using these in a way to limit the bandwidth to your customers, maybe even cut it off completely. Sometimes Liability control even involves controlling the "probabilities of exposure" . Meaning that your ads and presence is occurring in a lesser frequency than initially expected.

Never trust big corporations, they DO NOT care about you, only about themselves. Never forget that.
