I need some advice,im getting a laptop for college these days.
So this one laptop meets my budget,i understand the specs except for the graphics card. Im gonna be studying engeneering and computer science so im not buying a gaming laptop im just wondering if the card can support any games (i would very much like to run overwatch decently)
specs:
intel i5 7200u
8gb ddr4
full hd display
256gb SSD
AMD Radeon 520M 4gb gddr5

I cant find shit online about this graphics card. Any help?

If you run GNU/Linux in console mode, you don't need a graphics card. I have never heard of the multiplayer action video game you mentioned and refuse to acknowledge or support it.

It should do just fine. AutoCAD could be a little sluggish if you plan to do rendering but it can handle it. Overwatch will work ok, CS:GO should be butter. The GPU is nothing to write home about (it's one class above their low-end entry) but it gets the job done.

Am I the only one here who uses 4chin instead of leddit because 4chan is just easier to browse rather than stupid leddit with all the subreddits
Also, what are some new programs that just got released this year or last year that are very useful

My PC has been having a Machine Check Exception for about 3.5 weeks and it's been completely unusable for that time. The two notable symptoms are:
1: The MCE occurs within seconds of signing into Windows. Generally I can sit at the sign in screen just fine. I've only BSOD'd there a few times.
2: My wireless card isn't being recognized. I seems fine when I unplug the PC then restart it, but after attepting to sign in, BSODing and upon the automatic restart, it will no longer be recognized until I unplug it again. So even entering safe mode with networking won't work, because even without the BSOD, the restart that occurs while accessing safe mode causes the network card to become unrecognized, as if it's not even plugged it.
I ran a memtest and it came back clear (pic related).
Here's the zip file for my minidump: http://www.mediafire.com/file/odeymoec7yovy88/Minidump.zip

My moterboard has a TPU switch, that was activated. That overclocked my CPU by 23%. I have a liquid cooling rad, but I don't know if the automated overclock caused my CPU to disintegrate. I switched off the TPU switch and went back to default clock speeds. The MCE still occurred.
I open the BIOS and disabled: MultiCore Enchantment Intel(R) SpeedStep Turbo Mode
That allowed me to actually sign into Windows. I managed to stay open for about 13 minutes before the next MCE occurred, but now it's back to crashing within seconds of signing into Windows.
I would assume that indicated a CPU issue? How do you even check your CPU for issues? I can't figure out how to diagnose this issue as a whole. I don't know if it might be caused by a software issue, or perhaps another hardware component. I'm at a loss.

Sorry man, it's not fun. Just take it to a shop unless you can swap out every part with spares. Oftentimes shops can diagnose for free.

Is there a voice recognition solution that would reliably allow me to recognise single word commands after being provided samples of the same words from the user's voice? Just that, no sentences and no trying to understand unknown words.
Open source or paying I don't care but it has to be 100% local.

Hey, /g/. I was wondering if any of you work in some kind of content creation capacity, and was more curious what basic design skills (specific to certain programs) would be necessary to at least be mediocre. I want to be able to freelance piddly jobs for extra cash ("put these two characters in the same picture but eliminate background", or "edit this clip together of our wedding and make sure to excise any footage of my autistic brother drinking and making a fool of himself")

I'm most curious about Photoshop, but feel free to relay w/e information you want to.

Hi /g/,
I'm looking for some descently sized touch screen display for a DIY application in my shop.
Something like 17" ~ 19" 4:3 or even 16:9

I already have built something out of a 7" inches display, but it's not big enough for customers muh-thumbs

Anyone got links to share on those things ?

Ok people.
So I have to move to a very secluded part of the world, meaning I have to get rid of my current pc case since I can't take it with me without paying for some expensive shipping, and the current case isn't worth it. I'll take the components and get a new case there, from amazon.

Thing is, I have four (4) 3.5 HDDs, plus a 2.5 ssd. I was thinking about getting a full tower so I could easily place them all and still have room for cable management, the GPU etc. But Full towers seem to be a bit too much. I only need about 5 bays, not space for three radiators and a 4 card sli.

In conclussion, do any of you know of a good mid tower case that would fit 5 HDDs without too much hastle or should I just go full tower and be the ridicule of /g because of how empty it will end up?

Does /g/ use any remote administrative tools for "malicious reasons" or "business"
Doesn't matter which, do you know a good one?
The one that I prefer is Maus 2.0b, it's easy to use, built with java and also open source

I bought a line sensor but I don't know how to make it do it's job. I've been informed to use a microcontroller but idk what the hell is goin on. Help.

I don''t know what a line sensor is but I do know what a microcontroller is.
Spoonfeeding time!
An MCU is like a very small computer, it has some digital inputs/outputs (some have analog ones too) that you can program as you wish, usually using c/asm,sometimes c++. On your picture you can see an Arduino, a simple platform using Atmega MCU (long black bar). For instance I could take an MCU, digital thermometer and a LED and program the MCU that when the temperature is higher than e.eg 30°C then the LED would light on.
Begginers stuff: Read about Arduino, search for "<your sensor number> datasheet"

Advanced stuff: the same as above + AVR(atmega), PIC microcontrollers, ISP interface
