REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Considering getting a NAS for that personal cloud goodness + media streaming.
Is it worth buying pre-built, like from Synology or similar brands, or should I just build my own?
Are there any advantages to buying a ready box besides convenience?
Build your own. Prebuilt ones are trash.
synology and other brands do have this very cool raid system that will redo the raid when you add more drives. so you could start a "nas" eith one drive out of the 5 or whatever you bought populated, and then add drivea as needed and synology will rebuild the array for you. something I don't think is really possible much outside thay kind of system. if you already have all the storage you need purchased, then it would be cheaper and just as simple to do something homemade. there is a linux called nasbsd I think? that helps you set all that shit up.
>>58691967
synology is just using mdadm with a few scripts. no proprietary magic.
Prebuilts just werk OP, you time might be more valuable than what you'll spend in deployment.
Windows and Microsoft Office are now open source and free software.
Is there any reason to use Linux with all its problems anymore?
>>58691734
You don't know what open source is, reatrd.
>>58691744
I mean "What if", as in "Assume the case that Windows and Microsoft Office are now FOSS".
>>58691734
it is free

I have 8GB DRR3 RAM, I want to upgrade to 16GB but is it worth putting the money aside and upgrading to DDR4 (and compatible motherboard) instead?
>>58691729
Yes goy, get ready for your big cuckgrade.
if you got old shit processor yes
>>58691729
Provide 1 (one) good reason why anybody would ever need more than 4GB.
Why is Windows NT 10 the best consumer desktop OS currently available?
Linux just can't compete.
I guess nobody here can refute my claim... This proves that Windows NT IS the best desktop OS.

It becomes more and more just the OS for games. If photoshop works flawless and native on linux I am switching. This is the only thing making me dualboot...
Which one is the wiser decision? Is this Kobo a piratable device?

Toppest of KEK
Kobo is objectively better though Glo HD is out of production afaik.
>>58691656
Some guys on Ebay are selling the GLO HD, I have some coupons, so i'm planning on getting one. It's a good version or should I aim for other model? Also, how difficult is to install custom firmwares on this Kobo? I'm currently using a Kindle Touch 5 with a custom firmware.
Is there perhaps a reason why you aren't editing Wikipedia for future generations?
There's a /g/entooman wiki here for future generations.

More vaporwave sounds and jingles probably, making you feel like never leaving supermarket. Because your value lies in how many goods you can buy.

AMDs RYZEN chip has an integrated neural net on chip. It literally has a human brain doing the calculations. How is Intel even gonna compete?
Will the RYZEN chip be our first computer owerlord? Will AMD rule the world by the end of 2017?
>>58691375
Does that mean Ryzen can be my waifu?
>>58691387
It'll give you brain. 8 cores!
Confirmed flop, buy a 6700k if you're smart.
What are you guys' experiences with ricing Windows? This is my current Win 10 install.
>>58691354
That looks awful
>>58691367
Fair enough, I really like it, but that's fine.
>>58691354
Most of my changes are under the hood, but for UI I use 7+ tasbar tweaker, winaero tweaker, icaros, clover and rainmeter with a skin I made myself.

- wm4 is now paid by the plex corporation
- directshow based programs are still more popular

Sounds like a good thing.

Nobody seriously cares about windows anyway.
What did wm4 mean by this?

That you can record things with mpv now.

Hello

We discuss about Virtual Private Servers here.
>What do you do with yours (in detail)?
>How much did you pay for it?

Can a website be hosted on a VPS if there is not going to be much traffic?
