My GTX 780 is now getting destroyed left and right by even budget cards despite having higher bandwidth and more CUDA cores.
Why is this exactly? Considering usage is less then 3GB of VRAM.

AMD's HD 7800 and up cards still get drivers because up until the middle of last year the same chips were being used in the 370/x cards, the 285 tonga chip in the 380/x, and the 390/x which was just a 290/x with more vram. GCN as a whole hasn't changed all that much since introduction beyond scaling it up and adding additions to the same underlying structure using basically the same CU design.
It's been a wild ride with my 7870 but I have to admit it's an odd situation driven more by AMD's limited resources and very little by their desire to be "the good guys."
I expect having a full product line up of properly new cards once vega drops will more or less mark the point we see the older cards finally lose as much attention.

Why is it that Apple is the only company that understands the concept of diminishing returns? Once jaggies are completely eliminated even when your eyeball is 2 centimeters away from the display to deliberately try to see them, upping the resolution is literally just spec sheet pissing contest shit. A 5 inch display for instance, doesn't need anything higher than a 1080p display. You will not see the difference between a 1080p display and a 4K one with your naked eye on a 5 inch screen, ever. The only place you'll see the difference in is battery life.
How dumb does one have to be to fall for shit like this? Are Android fans just impressed by any larger number no matter where is or what its for?
Apple is doing the right thing by focusing now on accurate color reproduction and refining LCD technology with things like better viewing angles.
If you bought a 1440p phone, you're close to being mentally retarded and you understand little about tech.

Apple just wants higher margins so they go with lower res screens, not because they have seen the light and understand the concept of diminishing returns.
