Posted this in last thread but it died straight away:
Anyone know why releasing keys has a delay on Ubuntu? 'Slow keys' isn't on.
When I press a key it stays on for a time after I've released it. For example if I use caps lock to type the first letter of a word, it'll still be on for long enough to caps the second letter (e.g. EXample). Also means that if I'm gaymen and I press alt to do something, then tab to check keyboard, it'll alt tab and minimize the game. Really fucking annoying.
I'm using a PS2 keyboard if it matters, and I don't have this problem on Windows.
Why do artists love Macs so much? macOS seems to be THE de facto operating system for media production.
It has the best tools available and a low latency kernel to support them.

When it comes to photography/images and video:
Only desktop OS that is color managed, you can work with sRGB, DCI-P3 and Adobe RGB at the same time and everything will look the way they're supposed to look like. Also the only desktop OS that can do DPI scaling properly in everything.
When it comes to audio/music/live performance:
Stability
Low latency kernel
Has been the standard for so long that most of the tools artists want are there
A thread to discuss monitors and monitor-related technology, plus give buying advice and feedback on monitor/monitor equipment you own or plan to own.
What does /g/ think of the ultrawide meme? Do you own one? Did any of you upgrade to an ultrawide monitor from a dual monitor setup? If so, would you still prefer to have another small monitor off to the side for docking off important apps while you are in fullscreen mode? I may get this ASUS monitor in pic, but I feel like I'll still wish I had a second screen for file explorer/browser/foobar/steam and or discord while I play games.

Currently have the XB270HU from Acer. I want a similar 1440p monitor, although it doesn't need G-Sync or 144hz. All the other Acer models have been removed in this kind of category. Are there some around the corner?
Also, Dell vs Acer? If Dell were to release a non TN panel with G-Sync, 144hz in 27" i'd be hard pressed not to buy it, smaller bezels and better picture quality. Or am i retarded?
waiting for 4k 144 hz HDR 384 zone FALD monitor
>>58700525
Have the PG348Q myself, it's pretty fucking great. I still keep a 1080p IPS 27" second monitor to the side.

Who's still /fighting(((theman)))/ and running Windows 7? Get in here and post about the good 'ol days when men were men and your computer didn't try to shake your shekels.
I just got a machine up and running with a clean install of Windows 7 SP1 from an old install disk had lying around. I will be using this computer for business, and will hold potentially sensitive information, so I don't want to leave it without updates. I've got these questions:
>Which Windows updates are helpful?
>Are there any Windows updates to avoid?
Also, what are some measures concerned users can take to protect their data while running Windows 7? Are there any tools or programs that have improved your experience?
Who's a real Windows 7 oper8tor here?
>>58695100
I use windows 7 in a VM. With no internet access.
However, with WINE 2, I might reconsider using virtual machines.
Set Windows updates to ask before downloading and installing. Install all updates except for the ones in this list. Disable CEIP, disable automatic error reporting, and that should be it. No random connections to random IP addresses except for Windows update checks and CRL updating. If you care you can set up a traffic log and prove to yourself that this is the case.
If you want W7 with updates without telemetry, spying and W10 adware, you could try WES 7. I don't know if anyone uses it here as a daily OS replacing W7, but it seems to just be W7 with customizable installation options, and it only gets security updates, no telemetry and W10 forced updates. Also it just needs a 1 time activation key which is easy to find online, no registration so you don't need shady chink cracks to make it work. I want to try it myself but I haven't heard much about user experiences with it on here.

the same way you turned it on, press the power button.
Why does old technology look cooler than new technology?
>>58694348
Because computers used to be a luxury tool. Useful, but luxury.

>>58694553
It doesn't. Maybe macs and thinkpads do but that's it.

i'm pretty pissed off. I know mistakes can happen but it's pretty suspect that they've sent me the cheaper version of both the DAC and the Amp?
I've sent an email to both their contact address.
What does /g think of the Monoprice 8323?
