The Nextbit meme is over and sold itself to Razer
http://www.recode.net/2017/1/30/14445060/nextbit-sells-assets-razer
The idea behind it was nice but uneccessairy.
We have 256GB in a small form factor now, who needs the cloud

Can't wait.

the phone wasn't terrible. To be honest it was better than bigger brands and they sold a shitton as soon as they drop price.
Prepare yourself for a gaudy as fuck black and plutonium green phone in the coming months that needs to send touch input info to razer and updates with nothing every week or so.
Hi guys, I'm having a problem getting GApps to run on my S5 after installing LineageOS.
Versions used:
open_gapps-arm-7.1-nano-20170129.zip
lineage-14.1-20170125-nightly-klte-signed.zip
My Phone is a Samsung Galaxy S5 G900F klte
Bit more description - When I flash LineageOS, Wipe cache & dalvik, and reboot, it works great, just without any of the Google services / Apps I need.
When I When I flash LineageOS, Wipe cache & dalvik, and reboot, flash GApps, Wipe cache & dalvik, and reboot, it crashes during the initial setup screen, usually around the WiFi part. Then it reboots and gets stuck again in an inifinite loop (I'm told it's not a bootloop though).
I've tried skipping the wipes, skipping the reboots, using different GApps versions, etc. Always the same result: Lineage runs great, but when I try to add the Google stuff it all crashes.
Anyone else having this problem or able to point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
>Samshit
O I am laffing
Don't install gapps, it's botnet.

Anyone here own one of these? What the heck is up with that weird noise, its like when you're standing under a transformer and it has that buzzing sound. What's weirder is the sound goes away if you touch the case. It becomes louder when the GTX1070 is working harder.
Coil whine maybe?

The sound is coming from the computer, the PSU on this thing is separate.
There is literally no valid reason for 4chan not to support VP9 in 2017.
That seems obvious.
However, an imageboard should load enlarged images after you click them yet half the time Hiroshima Nagasaki can't seem to manage it.
There's literally no reason for 4chan not to support APNG in 2017, yet it doesn't.

The only development we'll be seeing from here on out is more attempts at malicious ads. gook-moot has no interest in working on actual features.
Why aren't you using pale meme /g/?

Post your current CPU/RAM usage right now.

Why does /g/ always circle-jerk ram usage?
RAM not used is WASTED. Unless you're constantly choking RAM to capacity or very close to that, it is meaningless to obsess about ram usage.
Not to mention how cheap it is these days. CPU is different of course, but I don't understand this muh minimal RAM obsession. Take advantage of the hardware you have.

I have a local network with 2 computers, and one is hosting a game server.
Do i forward the ports to the game server, or leave upnp to do it?
install gentoo
>>58725867
If you're trying to access the game server from the other computer on the same network, you don't need to do anything.
If you're trying to access the game server from outside the network and just mentioned the other computer for no reason, you should forward the ports

but my router is NAT, for some reason i don't see server, though i can ping the server... i suppose its issue with the crappy router.

So I've heard a lot of "the botnet", usually in reference to cloud computing and corporations selling information.
My question is, with all these companies supposedly guaranteeing "privacy", how can they get away with this?
What even *is* the botnet?
What's the alternative?
>>58725772
>My question is, with all these companies supposedly guaranteeing "privacy", how can they get away with this?
The big companies don't guarantee privacy. Just the opposite, actually. Go real Google or Microsoft's """privacy""" policy. It's full of shit about "we will collect, X, Y, Z, and a dozen other things, and reserve the right to retain and share this information under this list of circumstances that is so broad as to cover almost any situation"
>>58725772
>What even *is* the botnet?
Literally any software or device connected to a network of any kind.

Pluralsight is nice.
Currently learning Ansible with it and some Gahnoo-Loonix (Andrew Mallet aka @theUrbanPenguin is pretty good teacher).
My personal opinion is that their quality of GNU/Linux, DevOps materials are far better than that of LinuxAcademy.
It depends on how you learn, I'm a hands on kind of guy and sometimes need to see what I'm learning demonstrated or someshit if it's to complicated. So basically if you aren't really autistic you should be fine and get some Learning done

http://www.sciencealert.com/physicists-have-found-a-metal-that-conducts-electricity-but-not-heat?perpetual=yes&limitstart=1
>Researchers have identified a metal that conducts electricity without conducting heat - an incredibly useful property that defies our current understanding of how conductors work.
what does this mean for processors? can we make processors that don't produce heat?
>>58725588
no.
>>58725623
but the metal doesn't produce heat. if it doesn't produce heat, couldn't we pump as much voltage as we can through it since it won't melt and burn the house down? since... it doesn't get hot?
