Reminder that this is probably hardly relevant to them.
Reminder that competition is good for everyone and if you don't know this please fuck off and read basic economics.
Hello there
can any of you recommend a GPU primarily for desktop use? It should be able to handle 2 screens
(one 1440p, one 1080p) with the option of adding a third screen, it should run quiet (I'd prefer passive
cooling) and it shouldn't cost a fortune. Good Linux compatibility is also required.
second-hand GTX 210 + integrated cpu graphics
>>58727516
If you're not gaymen, the integrated GPU will be just fine to run three desktops at the those resolutions

Why haven't you fully embraced the Chromebook and what it represents, /g/?
Just bought myself and convinced 4 (four) extended family members to buy one.
I got my Acer Chromebook 11 a little too early and, while it has great speakers, it only has 2GB of Ram, a little short for a 3 digit tabber like me. Should have waited for the Samsung Chromebook 3 (4GB) like everyone else for the same price.
-Security
-Always connected connectivity and cloud computing
-Ease of use
-Fleshed out App store
-Futureproof as the landscape of web dev progresses
-free (free) Office software for productivity
-Lightweight hardware and software payload
-Huge homebrew scene
They were sold out at every Best Buy we went to around here. This things are flying off the shelf for some reason. Why even bother with these blue-shirted idiots when we ended up having to buy them on Amazon anyway.
And don't give me that joogle botnet bullshit. GoogleAI, release date 2028, will be the most intimate experience you've had in your life, botnet or not.
>>58727300
Also post your Cog's if you're really not a dweeb and know your way around these baubles.
I've had a Chromebook for just over 4 years now, one of the early Acer ones. ChromeOS did the job until the updates started lagging on it and when I realised the App Store wasn't coming to my model I wiped it all and installed xubuntu. Best decision ever. As machines (never mind ChromeOS) they're the best bang for your buck.
I think on /pol/ they call this a... shill thread?
the beta of everything is botnet
what are some programs that were "in beta" for a hilariously long time?

Does anyone have information about writing a basic text editor in C?
>>58727214
Windows:
CLI -> don't
GUI -> C#/WPF
Linux:
CLI -> ncurses
GUI -> Qt
Qt don't have C bindings, use C++ for that.
And yes, you have to use QtCreator.
>>58727214
look up Fabrice Bellard's qemacs, its an extremely light emacs clone with both X and terminal support, it has the bare bones of an emacs-style text editor in C
>>58727214
Look up ropes (the data structure).
And don't botch plugin support, unlike most other popular editors.
How do you organize your shit, /g/?

you don't need to have a science degree to figure this out
why do you hoard digital media? everything you delete that you didn't create yourself you're bound to find on the internet when you need it again.
How do you permanently delete something from your hard drive?
I've heard of Command Prompt's Cipher but don't think that is exactly what I'm looking for
overwrite the same sectors it occupied (not the same as overwriting the file)

Is there some program I can use?
What does Intel do with dodgy i3 processors? Why haven't they dominated the budget market with a single core Pentium with hyperthreading at 30ish dollars? They have the single thread performance to get away with it.
Manufacturing more CPUs is not expensive once you have a fab running. Also they want you to spend more money.
>>58727086
I can understand that, but look at how well AMD did with AM1. It sold like hotcakes across many poorfag places.
It also won't be a best seller because muh core count but it'll still put AMD out of the poverty pricing segment and guarantee more sales.
>>58727021
Intel is alreay a monopoly.
Net admins and sys admins, what sites and forums do you browse to get work related news and information?

>>58726919
4chan is pretty shitty for this in all honesty desu. I love /g/ and all, but the threads here aren't really relevant to our line of work.
Maybe it's just because of the "keep /pol/ in /pol/" rule, but I don't see any threads about Zoe Lofgren's attempt to gut H1B1s
I don't remember any threads that talked about Delta's systems going down yesterday either
