Should I move to linux from windows/?
Pros and cons all around?
>>58784857
you should install macOS

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.
Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.
There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Linux and FreeBSD is pretty stable in comparison to the current state of windows, not not even kidding this time.
Get the MATE desktop and an LTS release of Linux and you are set for the next 3-4 years of solid performance
How quickly does tech depreciate in value?
If a PC cost $1000 11 years ago, what is it worth now? Is $40 a good valuation or not?
>>58784825
Probably even less than that, but you have to account for the incredible jump we've seen in tech since then. The next 11 years will most likely be nothing like it, which means today's PCs will probably cost more in 11 years than 11 year old PCs cost now

Not all tech in a computer depreciates in value at the same rate.
GPUs will retain their value very well until the next generation comes out, and after two generations have basically no value.
Motherboards retain their value until the socket dies (generally - sometimes if a new chipset comes out but the socket is the same, compatibility will cause the motherboard to lose value prematurely)
Lately CPUs lose value pretty much linearly with time due to lack of noticeable performance improvements - an overclocked i7 920 is still a viable option even in something like a gaming machine. The only exception is that the first socket change will take a substantial chunk off the value.
RAM held its value very well while everything was using DDR3, but now that things are transitioning to DDR4 you might have a harder time selling it.
SSDs lose their value basically immediately, because of their limited writes (realistically they'd probably still be good, but you might as well buy a brand new one than a used one). HDDs fare a little better.
The case and PSU retain their value pretty much indefinitely.

Has anyone here done freelancing on the internet?
>>58784926

What are /g/'s superweapons against fapping
Post books, addons, cli tools, programs.. just anything that encouraged you to abstain from fapping.

I bought a Samsung Galaxy S6 and a T Mobile phone SIM from Straight Talk. None of the APN info Straight Talk gives me is working, and nothing online is working either. Also, changing the MNC makes the APN disappear, so I can't change that at all.
What can I do to get 4g on my phone?
Couldn't find the web development general, so I'll just ask here
Do I need apache to run my site from localhost? I wanted to bring my website to a friend's house on a USB to show him it, but then the php files won't work properly.
If I were to reinstall windows 7 from a disc that my laptop came with, would I still be able to upgrade to windows 10 again?
Was just planning on upgrading my msata and was hoping I could still use windows 10 when swapping them out.

I wanted it to be because I liked 9, but my wallpaper wouldn't load and my wifi would die after resuming from suspend, and even that wouldn't work without entering a command.
Better than Windows 10 :)

Doesn't Windows 10 cost money? Why does it have so many adverts in it?
Don't you remember them giving the product out for free to so many people? Yeah...

Because Wintoddlers will swallow anything Microsoft sends their way because they're scared to death of other operating systems.
Seriously, literally everyone saying anything positive about Windows on /g/ sounds like a paid shill, or making up for his own insecurity/lack of knowledge about computers.

So these things are supposed to stimulate your brain in a way that assists you in developing new skills. Do you suppose it works? On a more interesting note, do you suppose you could use the same (or similar) technology to mess with someone's head in other, less ethical, ways?
so is this like those dumbass placebo mp3s that get you high on different drugs
theres a bit of wet material that sends electro shocks thought the skin on your head.
i'm sure this stimulates specific parts of my brain.
the above is a story of fiction and falsehood. only a fool would take it as fact.
just like those headphones. also fake.
>>58784236
I-doser? I don't know much about the Halo set, but I doubt it. Those are strictly audio, whereas this imparts actual electrical stimulation. Different tech.

Altering the brain's function through EM stimulation is a thing. It's unclear whether this device properly induces those effects, but the effects themselves have been proven.

>let's buy a really expensive and ugly """gaming""" laptop
>let's connect it to an ugly box aka external gpu when you game
are external GPU's just a meme? you would have saved a shitload of money if you just bought a normal laptop and a desktop, and by doing this you wouldn't look like some autistic paedophile you you used your laptop in public
It would have made sense if Apple did it though since macs are expensive and apple pretty much have given up on their desktops. they could have made a beautiful display with integrated GPU connected with one beautiful cable

I am tempted on buying a blade stealth purely because the spec/price ratio is so damn good in comparison to so many other shittops.
