Battle station thread

I just sit on the floor with my Thinkpad. Or lay on the couch with it propped up against my bent knees. I don't have any other furniture besides a mattress.
These threads make me feel really weird. I don't understand how you guys have so much shit, and how you know how to make aesthetically appealing living spaces.

having a job and buying used furniture off craigslist or second hand stores.
There's just no way this won't be yet another mild disappointment from AMD. There's two main reasons:
1. Retards forget that making CPUs isn't a feelgood sports movie where the underdog comes back in the end. It's about science and enginering and if your RND budget is 1/10th then you're not going to compete in all areas.
2. The same people have hyped it up well beyond realistic goals. They yet again think that it's going to BTFO intel and make AMD market leader overnight
I hope it'll be okay.
If it's priced right it could do really well.
Given AMD's track record though- there will be like a i5-7600k (or whatever) competitor at $200, but they only make 12 of them so you can't find it for less than $500
>>58805525
Performance increases of Intel processors have stalled, meaning AMD will eventually get very close even if it takes them a while.
>>58805596
Yeah pricing is now all that matters. Here's hope they deliver.
What does /g/ reccomends for GUI in c++? I just recently started learning it, so I have no clue on what to use. Also, are they compitable with Visual Studio? (Have tried gtk but couldnt get it to run)
>inb4 pajeet studio
Qt. Yes it's compatible with Visual Studio, presuming you get the version that's compiled for it. (MSVC++ and MinGW use different name mangling schemes for C++, so C++ libraries have to be compiled for both).
>>58838323
Qt and wxWidgets are pretty common and will have plenty of docs and guides out there
Only reason you'd ever touch GTK on windows is because you're making a windows build of something you already have working with it on linux
standard winapi if you want something that doesn't look like a kindergartner finger paint project

I wouldn't touch Lockheed with a 10 foot pole.
The F-35 program basically shows how shitty they are at managing projects.

Anon, the cost overruns are excellent for Lockheed.

Is this the beginning of the end for Wangblows? Is Windows finally falling into irrelevancy?
2017 is the year when temple OS will become mainstream

You can stop polishing your micro dick any time now because Windows and MS is here to stay because billions of users grew up with Windows and entire businesses and infrastructure is dependent on Windows.

keep telling you that pajeet, i will spit on its grave when micro$hit finally dies.
Why does this not work:function foo() {
this.bar = function() {
console.log('a');
};
}
foo.bar(); // TypeError: Cannot find function bar in object function foo() {...}
And this works:function foo() {}
foo.bar = function() {
console.log('b');
};
foo.bar(); // prints b
>>58837624
>javascript
that's why
Can we just like... ban Javascript or something?
u need to call the contructor function to use this.foo
var baz = new foo();
baz.bar();
also you should put your funcion in a var
How often do you dust your computer?
Is canned air that important? Because I have an air compressor with air gun and it's way cheaper
Using an air compressor has a much greater risk of spewing water into your system, but I do it that way too. I just remove my video card first, give that a dusting with a cloth, then go through the case with the air compressor.
It would be wise to not turn the computer back on immediately so any water might dry off.
>>58837551
How often though?

Every two or three months, but I'm not strict about it
How do you guys feel about the RTE license?The supreme ruler, Recep Tayyip Erdogan ("RTE") hereby grants, ex gratia, to any person accepting his magnanimous sovereign, the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of this software and its associated documentation files (the "Software"), under the following conditions:
Marginal groups, including but not limited to anti-government protestors ("Capulcu"), and any corporation, government body or similar party ("Mihrak") with an evil intent such as undermining Turkey's economical greatness or overthrowing its advanced democracy are strictly prohibited from using the Software for their nefarious purposes. Possession, reproduction, transmission and all other applications of the Software by a Capulcu or Mihrak are punishable under law.
The license is valid from time immemorial until after the end of time, unless RTE explicitly states that he finds the timing significant and worthy of contemplation. After RTE disavows his grace upon it, the license will be considered merely an exclusive license for rich-text editors, run-time engines or another asset with the same initials, effective immediately.

Serious question. Why is there no much hardware discussion in /g/ for the past few weeks? Has everyone gone into software development or something?. Or are hardware releases totally shit? Sure, Intel can only go up to +1% max per year nowadays but still. NVIDIA and AMD give the delusion of better hardware but they usually just increase core count/die size and charge for more.

>Intel's executives are a jumpy lot lately, in fact ever since the middle of 2015, when Intel President Renee James left the company. For the last 18 months it has seen more shake-ups than a shaker in a “harden your arteries” take away joint. Many top managers have gone. There has been a new president, chief financial officer, chief information officer and last month, a new head of human resources showed up.
>On top of that Intel eliminated 15,000 jobs last year, roughly 13 percent of its work force.
