AMD can't competent.
dat RAM fast as fuck
The prices are just outrageous though. Nvidia probably couldn't get away with this if ATI/AMD hadn't been so utterly incompetent in the DCC/CAD market for so many years.
Who fucking cares.

No, people just don't want to answer a edgelord who pretends to be a haxxor but can't program in a decent language.
The only other one is maxed out, so I'll start
I'm building a pc with a z170 gigabyte motherboard and a skylake intel processor.. what this means is that installing windows 7 would be more difficult. so i was considering just using windows 10, but directx12 is shit performance wise and actually reduces framerate for games
can i keep directx 11? is the jump to directx12 automatic if i install windows 10?
>>58828235
Win 10 for game mode, Steam is going to be steaming about it.
>>58828235
Install win 10. I wouldn't trust a hacked-together win 7 install on that platform.
now this really is a stupid question. I was using Visual studio to make c# programs in Windows. What do I use to make c# programs in Linux?
>2013 Chromebook Pixel
>$350 brand new on Newegg/Amazon
>based 3:2 aspect ratio 2560 x 1700 IPS 13" display
>i5 low power processor, 4GB of RAM, 32GB SSD (or 64GB for $390), has an SD card slot for more storage
Super easy to install Linux, and the screen res and quality blows the absolute fuck out of every other option out there at this price point
Seriously, is there anything that competes for this price:value for a Linux laptop?
Nope. I bought one at launch for $900 and I still use it daily. Imo Chrome OS is just as good as Linux for 90% of what I need. Still buttery smooth and fast as fuck.
Although I thought it came with a minimum 8gb of RAM
>>58828198
How is a 4 year old laptop "brand new"?
And why is this better than a used laptop (assuming you are just needing a sibgle personal computer)
>>58828265
Pretty sure the 2015 model came with 8GB minimum
That said I don't think you can fucking find the 2015 models anywhere for a decent price

Should have bought from an actual refurbisher and not Tom from Craigslist desu
What does it have to do with ThinkPads anyways

Well, now that you can use GCC 7 in RISC-V software development that means we will see more and more companies building RISC-V hardware?
>>58827231
Unfortunately no, catering technology to tech illiterates was a mistake
Intel won't allow a breakthrough until they put out their new architecture in 2021.
>>58827231
>Well, now that you can use GCC 7 in RISC-V software development that means we will see more and more companies building RISC-V hardware?
I don't think it's that easy. You need to give big incentive to somebody to switch architectures and you can probably only succeed with RISC-V if they already planned a switch. And it will only be embedded/microcontroller design wins, so nothing important for normal users.
However, with the current maturity of the ecosystem, most will likely still go for some other design, even if there are some costs with that.

Wrong.
muh
Asterisk autist here. Looks like the current setup on the Oval Office desk is two IP phones, both Cisco. One looks like an 8861, the other a 7975G with a sidecar that has since been removed.
Nerdy, ridiculous, autistic IP phone thread.
More recent pick with sidecar removed from 7975.
Looks like he is almost always using the 7975. Wonder which is used for what? Maybe the 8861 is the "bat phone" used for some higher security conversations...? Who the hell knows.
Looks like he has (or had) an old Merlin phone in his NYC office.

If you're looking for purchase advice, READ THE BUYERS GUIDE FIRST. Then post, stating budget and requirements (e.g. size and performance).
Don't buy anything OTHER THAN T, X AND W/P SERIES if you want the Real ThinkPad Experienceâ„¢
Recommended models:
T420 - 14", normal size
X220 - 12.5", ultraportable
----
Why ThinkPad? (also applies to other business laptops)
>Used machines are plentiful and cheap.
>Excellent keyboards - tactile feel and quiet.
>Great durability: chassis uses a magnesium rollcage for structural integrity, with high quality plastic body panels.
>Utilitarian design: e.g. indicator LEDs, 7 row keyboard layout on older models.
>Docking stations that easily turns your laptop into a desktop.
>Easy to repair, upgrade and maintain thanks to readily available service manuals for every model. Spare parts are easy and cheap to obtain.
>The best trackpoint (that red thing in the middle of the keyboard). Great for those who type a lot or hate swiping their fingers all over a touchpad.
>Excellent GNU/Linux & *BSD support.

I want to fuck a thinkpad
My X200 was making lots of noise because they fan bearings were shot, so I tried to replace the fan which is under the motherboard and requires a complete disassembly of the laptop.
I couldn't get past the display cable removal because it's stuck on ultra tight and I was afraid to strip the screws, so I just resorted to putting this in my cron jobs for root.
It actually works pretty well.# fan noise reduction
* * * * * echo "watchdog 0" > /proc/acpi/ibm/fan
* * * * * echo "level 1" > /proc/acpi/ibm/fan
Just make sure you have a file called thinkfan.conf in /etc/modprobe.d/ that contains the followingoptions thinkpad_acpi fan_control=1
Does anybody knew a list of movies where Thinkpads are used widely instead of Apple Fagbooks?

Just installed win10 and it won't read my RN3P. I feel retarded, I've tried everything I found on google. I don't have wpdmtp.inf in my inf folder and even with the drivers I downloaded it's not showing up.
