Yeah man the only song I listen to is the free software song.

Even Suses music is proprietary

That was amusing. I'm glad I'm not a 16 year old that is so concerned with his social standing, even among people he will never meet, that he cannot enjoy things because they're "cringy" (read: embarrassing and negatively impacts my social value).

Why should anyone use this fork?
>>
>>58878108
i dont care
>>
>>58878117
It's a real fork of SJWfox, not just a reskin. i.e. it actually diverged from the Firefox code.

Why don't more phones allow you to use them as a desktop computer?

Because they're slow as fuck at anything that isnt being a phone.

Not practical yet.

When the SD 835 comes out and the SD 820 is cheaper. We'll see new wave of Windows tablets and possibly phones with a desktop mode.

Unless you are a richfag, ALL ssd.
If you are an almost-richfag, ALL software on SSD.

What's the best HTPC available right now?
I have a pi 3 B running OSMC on my projector right now but Bluetooth audio seems to be broken and it takes me 15 clicks to get to exodus and watch anything. I already have accounts for everything so I didn't even care that it's free.

>>
>HTPC
>Kodi

why do these things even exist? Even if you don't have access to a smart tv or a chromecast you can wire your entire house with HDMI cables for cheap. It sounds ridiculous to me having a dedicated system running fucking Kodi (which looks like garbage that came straight from the 90s anyway) to watch things on the television. Chances are most people even have their computer close to the TV where they're watching media. It makes no sense.
>>
>>58877633
I just wanna sit on my couch and Netflix and chill in three clicks or less, and I don't want to have to use a secondary device like on Chrome cast.

Kodi has exodus which is free and has everytbing you'll ever wanna watch and the interface is slick. It's a Foss Role or Amazon TV.

As far as smart TV, I have a projector that isn't smart, but has HD I and USB.

Why do we still connect graphic's cards via PCIe? Why not recreate the standard motherboard but with dual sockets, one for CPU and one for a GPU chip?

We are seeing huge improvements in integrated graphics, but these hinder CPU performance and vice-versa. Focusing all the graphical power on a single socketed chip would allow for smaller and thiner cases with the advantage of being able to cool components better with CPU coolers for both the CPU and GPU.

There's no excuse for this to not be happening, especially now that HBM2 is being worked into GPUs. We need to reinvent the motherboard

>>
>>58877417
There's more on a graphics card than just the GPU. Having a GPU socket on the motherboard would mean that none of those components can be upgraded without a new motherboard. We'd be taking a step backwards.
>>
>>58877903
Could you not have GDDR slots too alongside conventional ram?

Wouldn't that make it more upgradeable?
Think of how much better a gtx 670 would have aged if it had 4GB vram instead of 2. That's why the 7950 started to pull ahead after a few years.
>>
>>58878028
Well sure but you could just as easily put GDDR slots on an expansion card.

Which technolo/g/ies are most promising for making anime real? I have some ideas:

1) ROBOTICS + ADVANCED AI - this is currently the most interesting path. Robotics and AI is moving fast and we might start seeing anime girls within 10 years time or less. Big negatives are that they'll be noisy, will have to be plugged in a lot and will be heavy from all the metal parts.

2) VR/AR - Oculus/Vive was suppose to make anime feel more real but this hasn't happened yet. Lots of issues are plaguing this space. Magic Leap was also revealed to be a giant scam so you can forget about interacting with anime girls IRL anytime soon using this method.

3) HOLOGRAPHS - there's a Japanese company that's already making holographs of anime avatars but they're small and you cannot cuddle with a holograph.

4) NEUROIMPLANT TECH - this is an interesting one. Basically, you could make an implant and put it over someone's visual cortex at the back of the head and that will project anime girls directly into your brain. This could make anime feel real to you and bypasses AR/VR problems completely by beaming shit into your brain. Tech is still not there and prospects of having to have a brain surgery is not appealing to most of the people.

5) BIOENGINEERING - this is my favorite by far. Imagine taking the human DNA and then modifying it by exaggerating certain facial/body features until it looks exactly like an anime girl. You could then implant the embryo into an artificial womb and mass "produce" them. You would then have a real, live, breathing anime girl! Reproduction would be a problem tho.

Anyway, what does /g/ think about these technologies and which of them is the most promising one?
