you can generate an api key, but you can't look up those you already have, so if you close the page without taking a screenshot, it's gone forever

Can't find an API for libre.fm though. Does it even have one? Does anyone use the website in the first place?

For mass surveillance apologists out there, how do you justify a surveillance apparatus that generates massive quantities of cheese pizza by spying on two teens stripping for each other on web cams?

How do you justify saying "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" when you generate the world's largest database of child pornography?

So you unironically support the creation and dissemination of child pornography, for real?
>>
>>58943748
I would prefer the existence of terrorism over the existence of mass surveillance.

I don't support either.

This, sir, is a facile argument.

I'm on the market for a cheap, low to mid tier laptop just for light university stuff like running autocad and basic 3d rendering to replacing my aging current one and I've been wondering, why can't find I find one with a CPU that manages to be significantly better than my shitty 5 year old one?

Laptops were never meant for heavy duty workloads. All you're going to find is greater power efficiency.
>>
>>58943727

I know that, but I was expecting 15w CPUs to catch up sooner. Seems like I can put off that upgrade for a couple more years, though my laptop is all kinds of fucked up.

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

Got an 128GB card and works on devices advertised as supporting a maximum of 32GB...

Seller says it was compatible with both SDHC and SDXC slots.

Gonna buy another one of different brand (Samsung Evo+) but says it works in SDXC slots ONLY!

WTF /g??

I thought SDXC cards were all the same.

SDHC: Old SD card technology up to 32Gb
SDXC: New SD card technology from 32Gb to 2Tb

Some devices really only see 32GB, but it works fine most of the time.

>>58943016

>>
>>58943016
>>58943890

On top of this, I'd just like to add that some devices say 32GB limit/SDHC only when they really mean FAT32 only, so sometimes you just have to format your SDXC from exFAT to FAT32 to make it work if you're having trouble.

tech-illerate retard here. why a kernel called the kernel? in Linear Algebra the kernel is the set of vectors that map a particular linear transformation to zero. Is this related i any way, shape, or form the the computer definition in theory, form, or function?

Stupid questions thread. And no. Also who is this semen demon?
>>
no

The kernel is called the kernel because it is the "central, most important part" of the OS, which is the definition of the word "kernel". It is the interface between the hardware and programs/other OS components.

/g/ what was your first IT job like?

At my current job, I'm just fucking unpacking boxes of new computers and recording their serial numbers. There's nothing technical about this position and I'm wondering if I should just quit or if this is shitty labour work everyone has to do to move up

My first IT job was sitting on a freezing office next to the servers and routinely going into other people offices and fix their computer related shit, which most of the time was an unplugged mouse or some sort of malware.

I wish I was unpacking boxes
