I'm writing an article on the Internet's influence on the English language. Was 4chan the first website to implement greentexting?
>>59045326
>I'm writing an article
Say that 4chan is a dark place and I might tell you
>>59045326
No but it probably created the way greentexting is used today.
>>59045326
The usage of greentext started on 2chan IIRC
But the usage in its current format started on 4chan
What phone does /g/ uses?
My job just gave me a LG G6 and I was interested in some apps.
Running default launcher and settings atm

G6? Excuse me?
>>59045633
Yeah, it will apparently get announced to the masses next week. Probably somebody fucked up the dates and gave them to us a month early.

LMAO nigga u full of shit
Post pics right fucking now or fuck off
I have an opportunity at the end of the next year to work for a pretty cool company.
Friend of mine who works there told me that they need people who know how to pull apart an executable and understand exactly how it works.
I guess what I am saying is I need help learning assembly. What resources did you guys use?
Also what tools do people generally use to decompile windows / nux binaries
IDA Pro, OllyDbg, Cheat Engine, Resource Hacker. Resources are mainly tinkering on your own, Hex-Rays Disassembler, if you're looking for books, Hacking the XBOX 360, and the like are usually pretty good.
Learning ASM is very annoying and tedious, so if you're able to use the IDA decompiler, it'll make your life easier. However, you still may want to cross reference with the disasm. Good luck. You're gonna need it.
There are tools to do it built into .NET
Ildasm for starters
>>59045175
If you're doing .NET shit, Telerik's JustDecompile is great for it.
Can any of you /g/entoomen please fill me in on this unusual front LED power connector?
>>59045011
Well, what do you want to know about it? It's a molex and you use it normally to conduct power
that pin layout is commonly used for PSU fans
>>59045110
So since the motherboard has no spot for this to be connected I should obtain a molex to 2pin converter.
What are you working on, /g/? But more importantly what kinds of panties do you wear when programming?

So... is elementaryos the only usable alternative?

kys cia nigger
elementary is essentially just a shitty/buggy skin for Ubuntu
>>59044945
It's just eOS.
I bought pic related and I want to make it so I can use it to both time machine my mac and use it to store my porn on my windows machine
I'm thinking about partitioning 1TB for time machine or 500GB and the remaining space format it to NTFS for windows since I download all my porn and chinese cartoon on my windows.
bonus points if I can encrypt my ntfs partition that I can access on my mac. I'm planning to watch some chinese cartoon on my mac through the ntfs partition as well since ntfs has a native read only from mac
so /g/uys, is this too much to ask for in 2017 or can I actually do it?
inb4 all jargons nerd tech answer without tutorials
it just werks
but seriously I would keep it NTFS and use an app to access it
exFAT
Accessing NTFS on macOS is a pain in the ass.
Format it to fat32 if you want cross-OS access.
What are some technologies you oppose and why?
Non-free software doesn't respect my freedom.
Digital restrictions management is defective by design.

I've noticed a lot of places around me that are hiring for network jobs will say
Required: Bachelors in CS/Science or equivalent field experience (usually a minimum of 5 years) required.
Which jobs do they want to see? What entry level positions can I stick with for 5+ years that will help grow my networking skillset.
What about something like this?

Your own house networking counts as a project if you design, project and install it all by yourself that is.
>>59044508
Consumer networking devices work out of the box though.
It isn't like I need to configure a bunch of restrictions and settings on a router and switch that one PC is connected to.
just built my first PC please rate

I've never bought and installed an HDD before. Do i need to also buy screws for the bay and cables in order to plug into motherboard?
After installation it will just work with ubuntu right? I'm new to this os and am not sure If I need to do extra stuff.
>>59044207
>Do i need to also buy screws for the bay
These came with your case. If you didn't keep them, yes, you need to go buy a bag of screws.
>and cables in order to plug into motherboard?
A couple of those came with your motherboard. If you don't have any spares, yes you need to buy one.
>>59044207
>After installation it will just work with ubuntu right?
Yes.
>I'm new to this os and am not sure If I need to do extra stuff.
You need to format and mount the disk.
>>59044256
>You need to format and mount the disk.
ok ill keep this in mind. should be easy yes? i already have gparted installed if that helps
Hello I am a Verizon Shill. More correctly I am a Solutions Specialist or "salesman" if you don't buy into doublethink.
Since the unlimited data bombshell dropped this week I figured it was time for another thread.
Ask anything and I'll answer to the best of my knowledge. No information that will expose my identity of course.
>>59044076
"Unlimited" is obviously a lie. Lay it out for us. Soft caps? Throttling? Bullshit fees if my phone passes the bytes it downloads onto my computer (i.e. tethering)?
>>59044146
The way it has been explained, which christ knows that isn't gospel, is smart phones and tablets have unlimited 4G LTE data. Up to a 22gb "priority" soft cap.
What this means is that you are not immediately throttled back but if there is enough congestion on the local network you will be slowed down to make room for other less data hungry users. This is an acceptable middle ground between true unlimited and hard throttling. Basically if it is busy and you are in a high population area you can see slower speeds but only if the network is stressed. If you live a less populated area or there is a stronger tower setup you could potentially use 200gb of data and never see a slow down.
So it only limits speeds if it will slow down everyone else to keep you at 4G LTE.
Also you get 10gb of mobile hotspot on smart devices and tablets and jetpacks. That is a hard throttle down to 3G however. Cannot replace your home internet. Unless you're willing to watch everyone on a mobile device.
>>59044199
Those aren't terrible terms as far as defining an "unlimited" data plan, but the Verizon plans are still hilariously overpriced.
If they ever get that unlimited plan down to $60 - 70 a month (*after* all the bullshit fees and taxes) and stop their infuriating habit of delaying and denying android OTA updates I might consider coming back.
t. Verizon customer for a decade who left because of their bullshit and now happily uses Google Fi.
