>just started a photo/video production company
>desperately need a new computer for editing
>about to pull the trigger on a 6900k build
>that ryzen reveal
Should I wait for ryzen or buy merchant cpu?
>>59074585
wait, worst case you lost a few days, best case you saved a lot of money for other hardware
I'm an audio guy but it kinda sucks, video is more enjoyable and seems more lucrative
How'd you get into starting your own thing? Any training? What type of work do you do?
does the loss in productivity from the wait override the few hundred bucks you'll save on ryzen?
if yes, get merchant
if no, wait
So whats all the hype around these "ryzen" CPUs about?
>>59074539
Why are you such a fuckboy?
>>59074539
It's about Ryzn
>>59074539
>So whats all the hype around these "ryzen" CPUs about?
AYYYMD shilling at full force.
Don't worry, it will flop. It always does. It's what AMD known for.
After that it will be quickly abandoned like any other shitty AYYMD product.
> choosing motherboard for my future Ryzen 5 purchase
> want something that is less than 150$, Asus, and not red looking colors
> almost all motherboards are marketed with red colors
Why is the color red too much associated with enthusiast diy PC users
>>59074503
There are some nice white and black mobos for Ryzen, anon
it's not just diy PC users
Red is one of the most common logo colors period senpai
why do you care what color it is?
Seems like all my coding courses don't give unit test and test you on weird edge cases you can never figure out.
>>59074476
My data structures class forced a minimum number of unit tests and code coverage
>weird edge cases you can never figure out.
What do you mean? Like they give you code and you have to describe what it does?
Unit testing is a meme.
How is this even possible?
>>59074241
>>59074241
It'm nothing extraordinary. It's just Intel normalising cpu above 4 core with exorbitant price tag.
If the shit wrecker wills it, it happens.
How do you pass this /g/?
>>59073957
Buy some old 2624's and 1950 switches and lab the fuck out of them. Learn the difference between the configuration file and the flash image, and how to break and fix things. Learn the routing protocols and switching LAGs and port securityPacket tracer is breddy gud but if you want to beat out all of the diploma mill pajeets, put in the time and frustration of learning the equipment, not the paper test. At least do the labs.
My instructor for the second and third class was a lazy fuck who didn't bother with the labs, and I felt cheated-so do the labs with live equipment.
>>59073957
well since im a CCIE i find this test rather rudimentary
£7,500 in debt after taking my CCNA and dropping out after year 1. The course was ridiculously easy, and I wasn't learning anything. I felt like I was wasting my time and money so I left. Will it be the same if I take a computer science degree this year?
YouTube's done fucked it up again.
I'm really getting tired of this.
What is the best alternative to YouTube?
>>59073940

Vimeo and Dailymotion is okay

Pentel Smash Edition
What's a pencil on the level of this one?
standard color, there's also a grey version
It's stationary, try using that pencil for once
>>59073984
I have one and like it, but I'm considering getting one of these to see if I like it more.
Do you think there's something wrong with it?
Also, Ryzz suck my dick.

So every time Jim Keller kicks Intel's ass they'll revert back to Core 2 Duo? Nice.

How the fuck do we save Nvidia from the same fate as Intel? We can't let those fucking jerks at AMD beat us too
>>59073674
at least Nvidia makes GPU speed/tech advancements... unlike Shilltel.

poor volta :(
Why is GoySync so expensive?
It adds like £150-200 to the same monitor with FreeSync
At this point I'm considering giving up on it even though I have a GTX 1080
>>59073628
get one and keep it fore 7 years
>>59073668
that's what I thought when I got my previous monitor
now it doesn't support shit
HELLO /g/
As a total complete noob, where should I start if I want to make my own video game?
What languages do I need to learn, or would be most beneficial, or are the most common for 2D, side-scrolling and or over-head view games like Hotline Miami and La Mulana? I have no programming experience besides a little Javascript, so take that into account.
There's an engine I want to use. Its a popular one but I can't think of the name. I read that it allows anyone to use it for free even commercially unless they make $100,000 in a single year. Then they'd have to pay like a monthly fee or something.
>>>/vg/agdg
Short answer is : select a language, à graphic library and program whatever you want to.
If you want to achieve something, you better go with a game engine.
Personnally I'm more interested into the algorithms and creating my own stuff so I program in C++ with SDL
Honest advice? Go to agdg on /vg/, read sticky. Like the other anon said. They're a bunch of shitters like you but you'll at least get more mileage then here and won't have to install gentoo.
>What languages do I need to learn, or would be most beneficial, or are the most common for 2D
>I have no programming experience
Pick either game maker or unity for 2D. Don't stress about the limitations of either because as an amateur solo dev you will absolutely not have to worry about being "held back" by either, if anything you'll want as much hand-holding as possible as a beginner. Best advice is to download both follow a youtube tutorial for each one to completion and decide for yourself which your more comfortable with.
You don't really need to learn any particular language for either but If you want to game dev you should pick up a language anyways just to practice and learn good habits. It'll take you years at best to make anything decent and you might as well learn something in the process.
okay, so game maker and unity.... which one do you think is better?
Did I fuck up /g/?

>deathstar
Yes you did
>>59073240
ultrastars are NOT deskstars/deathstars you moron.
op could have done worse for 20 bucks.
the 65 dollar 3TB HGST enterprise series drive i got on newegg is worth it's weight in gold, will probably buy a few more of them down the line.

I was also looking at those to purchase in a couple weeks, but saw this and decided to pull the trigger.
