Yeah and unless they also cut prices Intel is pretty much done.

They're in a state of panic because they can't keep pumping out poor to none improved chips at three times the premium

>Intel better come up with something...

They don't have to. They have all the OEM contracts, AMD has none, and they won't be able to get any new ones either as long as their portfolio is 3-4 desktop cpus.

They need to cover low, mid, and high range, plus server chips, and mobile chips, for OEMs to even CONSIDER using them.

Post your Cinebench.

How much of a performance boost would you get if you were offered a Ryzen R7 1800X?

Hi /g/, I'm a long time Windows user that would like to be a linux desktop user. I don't know how to program or anything about computers. Am huge anime faggot who sometimes draws. Which distro do you recommend?

None. There's too many trade offs that doesn't make Linux worthwhile in a desktop.

Try Mint Cinnamon, be sure to install Gimp, or Inkscape if you're more of a vector guy. You can copy and paste back and forth between them on the fly too.

So what is the point of having 24gb ssd? I have one of the pic related. It has 750gb hdd but you can also buy it with an 24gb ssd. At first i tought "oh you just install the OS into it" but then i checked google, people said " it is for hdd caching". What does this mean exactly? I shouldn't install my OS into ssd?
8 posts and 1 images submitted.
>>
Cache as in sometimes used to store shit for quick reuse. You could both have your OS AND the cache in there.
>>
It's for the OS, ignore stupid people on the internet.
HDD and SSD boot up difference is 20 seconds.

Oh thanks for the answers, then i will upgrade.

Is MyDigitalSSD a good brand for ssds? I've never heard of it but only it has a 24gb mssd.

How to be mobile and have enough power at the same time?

I mean, I want a good PC with a big good monitor, but I move a lot. Today I'm living in one city, within 2 months I'll move to a different state, three moths later I will move to yet another apartment — it would be a hassle to take a huge display and a full tower PC with me. I don't have many belongings, it's not a problem to carry several bags with my clothes and stuff when I move anywhere, but I can't take something as bulky and fragile as a workstation.

What to do?

i just ordered a top of the line x260 im going to build a egpu for.
idk, it seems like a good compromise.
>>
>>59114897
well you have two options, either get one of those ridiculous new gaming laptops with dual gtx 1080s and a ridiculous processor, or get a small but still powerful workstation and monitor.

you can cram a surprising amount of power into miniature cases, how much power do you need?
>>
Possibly you can make a build small enough to screw on to the back of the monitor. I think ncu's can do that, but they are under powered.

Technologies about windows servers?

I'm transitioning to a new job which mostly deal with windows bullshit so I was trying to get a feel for the ecosystem.

Since it seems /g/ is full of winfags I was curios what you guys use it for and some automation tools and technologies for windows.

With linux I used things like Ansible for automation, nagios over ssh for monitoring and performance metrics and package management in general was pretty sweet deal for installing server software.
