Intel apparently will be lowering the prices on their Broadwell-E chips. The i7 6900k might come down to $700, and that means the lower tiered 6850k and 6800k will be bordering on decent price/performance. Understandable if they want to make a 6 core Coffee Lake part for their mainstream platform.
We've been stagnating for far too long, and its not because multiple cores are too difficult to utilize. Plenty of software today is well threaded, and having more cores available also means you can simply run more programs at once without impacting performance of anything else running. 6c/12t and 8c/16t are a great step forward. AMD once again leading the market in establishing new paradigms.

If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine.
1) Use a live image and to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or Mac.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

What is your daily crap? Do you even know what yo use it for?
I work in a web hosting company as a level 2 support monkey. I know how to get around our systems pretty well. We have cPanel servers as well as a shitty cloud. In addition to BASH, what are some other skills I should start touching up on to get to a system administrator level? While on the topic, what is some good literature to learn bash? Is classic shell scripting by O'Reilly good, or should I consider something else?

Now that the death of intel is on the horyzen is Nvidia next in line?
I'm not seeing the same sort of hype for the vega even though the release date announcement is tomorrow at GDC.
http://radeon.com/en-us/gdc-2017/
>>59149214
>for the vega even though the release date announcement is tomorrow
highly doubt it, it's going to be another polaris kind of event like last year - nothing interesting
Nvidia launching boring Pascal 1080ti nobody cares about except for hardcore Nvidia consumeers
GPUs will be boring for a while at least until 2019
>>59149214
Not really.
The 1080Ti or whatever is next will be competitive with Vega. Vega will just keep it from costing more than like $600 while the 1080 and 1070 will be price dropped about 30% each.
Vega will poop on last year's $1000 Titan XP for like $450-$600 just like the 7970 pooped on the 590. But the next Pascal will make people regret buying a 1070/1080/Titan XP just the same.
But this is just how the cycle goes. Nvidia CAN offer a competitive card at decent prices. They didn't lose money when they had to cut prices when GCN launched by 30% and the cards were still 30% slower because fanboys still bought them and plenty already bought them at the overpriced prices before the 7000 series launched.. They just gouge when they can on top of that.
It's to be expected. AMD have been bullied for years and now they're out for blood.

literally no one said that except for the same shill. should have got an iMac or a chromebook or some other shit.
OP fell for the Apple meme.
So now that it's been confirmed ryzen has better ipc and runs cooler than kaby lake for less than half the price, why would anybody ever give money to the intel jew again?
Huh? AMD? Isn't that a chinese company thta copies intel parts?
I'll go for the real deal, thanks chinks.

What do women think of technology? It's a pretty broad question
For example, when they look at shit such as thinkpads, mechanical keyboards, and chinkphones, do they subconsciously have their beta senses tingled?
>>59148783
They think "ew nerd".
That's the single biggest reason why women don't want to go into tech. Women are too vain and only care about what people think of them.
>women
>think
they anything that doesn't provide them ego validation or emotional excitement
if you had a machine that sang em praise and told em dramatic stories they'd stare at it all day and not budge

Why is it so bad and insecure?
Personally I am not sure. Installation went like a dream for me. I really enjoy this distro and am not really considering anything else atm. Pretty comfy.
>>59149419
Manjaro seems nice, but without the encryption, I don't feel comfy.
I guess I can try encrypting my home post install.
>>59149441
You only need to worry about encryption if you are doing things illegal anon

That's actually good if they didn't doctor it. By the way, notice those are AVERAGE results below the chip they tested, not records. See >>59146682 for proof.

Pretty stupid to be anything but average since they don't show anything but SKU number, no frequency, no enabled cores, no OS, no ram/mobo

So this just popped up while browsing on some random site (game modding site).
I am using Google DNS instead of the default comcast.
What tricks are they using to inject this javascript in the browsing session? They used to do it via DNS injection, but how are they doing this now?
Wow, I didn't know how much Americans get fucked in the ass by their ISP.
