no :-)
what do I win?
Hey /g/, tell me why you're not making your own sleeved cables yet.
And if you do show the works!
>>59172364
im not autistic enough that i would care about how cables look in a fucking computer which is closed anyway and i dont stare at it all the time
>>59172381
I bet you're one of those guys that builds its pc's with the cpu 8-pin cable going in front of the graphics card
>>59172364
Why should I sleeve my own? I feel like I'd fuck up - I'd rather pay a bit more for sleeved cabled already made.

Raja Koduri seems out of his depth heading the GPU side of AMD.
With him at the helm, it always seems to be amatuerishness and one poor move after the other. Always overhyping stuff (and I'm not talking about this conference here) and then underdelivering.
>MADSHILLS ON SUICIDE WATCH CONFIRMED
AMD GPU will just be a slightly worse, better fps/$ card than NVIDIA like always.
They won't have a repeat of what Ryzen is doing to Intel because unlike Intel NVIDIA actually improves their cards with every new generation. The thing NVIDIA has in common with intel is their retarded pricing but that's just what every company does when they have no actual competition
>>59172506
No. NVIDIA is identical to AMD in not having their own Foundries, and their only difference is that NVIDIA makes larger dies that are faster but more expensive. Intel has Foundries and technical superiority because of that and hence it can make AMD run behind it like a dog.
But fuck all of them. NVIDIA and AMD are a cartel of GPU patents. Intel and AMD are a cartel of CPU for the desktop patents.
Ever wondered why in the ENTIRE WORLD there are only 2 companies that do GPUs and 2 that do CPUs for the desktop?
They are fucking cartel of patents.
Stop being fanboys of any of them.

CS student in uni here, finally looking to install a linux distro on my pc laptop. What do you recommend?
install gentoo
Windows, because Linux is worthless. If you honestly need it (you don't) install it in a VM.
create your own kernel

Vulkan was presented as the revolutionary multi-platform, open source API that would let many 3D based programs (like games) run on Linux natively, if this is true then...
Why is Doom not supported by linux?
Is Doom using something that doesn't allow it to run it natively?
you can run doom on linux
I know I've done it
and most linux machines will still use OpenGL
>>59171120
Yeah.
Win32 libraries.
>>59171120
the graphics library isn't the only library they use
even even if every library is available on both platforms, they still need to build a linux executable, test it, and release it
basically, supporting vulkan alone doesn't guarantee it will come out for linux
This chip seems like the definitive sweet spot of the new AMD line

Only caveat I can see is that it might not overclock well.
we'll see.
i'm just gonna wait another paycheck and buy a 1700x or a 1800x, why not.

PS. The 4/8 seems to have some chances to replace it but maybe not. Though the price cut does seem enticing. It's kinda a tossup.
