>my take on Ryzen
Ryzen is at least 85% of the performance per core of intel but way cheaper
games don't take advantage of more than 4 cores at least for now
benchmarks also don't facter in account running things in the background

Games will continue to increase in core useage. There's no real gain to be had in praying for MOAR MEGAHURTZ. IPC won't improve without a miraculous new architecture. No, Intel doesn't have one stashed in their back pocket.
>>
>>59206850
How is it way cheaper? It's like $30 cheaper than a 7700
>>
>>59206850
People got so mad when I said it will come out with about 80% per core performance.

lol good shiut

>Comparing workstation cpu to gaming

It beats the shit out of the intel line up in almost every non gaming task.

>But but look it has 1-5 frames less in these games.

So? People do not only game. If you wanted a gaming cpu then wait for the r3 r5 line up and see if those are any good if not go with the massively priced down skylake/kabylake
>>
>>59206610
Gamerfag, little gaming baby, back to >>>/v/ keep wasting your time on virtual cocaine.

Ryzen is geared towards productively and will only age like wine in gaming. Why? Because as time goes on games will be able to utilize more cores through better coding and it will allow for better performance.
28 posts and 8 images submitted.
>>
>>59206535
Agreed, productivity software is generally much better written than anything else, and most vidya are notoriously badly written and game engines are written by the lowest bidder so the games simply work and no better. Intel was so dominant for many years that the vidya code monkeys have adopted some intel specific ISA optimizations into their code.

People said the same about Bulldozer and now look what happened.

Yup, I'm a retard, I should be doing what the enlightened 14 year olds from /v/ do and base my purchase for a workstation CPU on video game benchmarks, and not benchmarks that actually represents what I'm going to use it for

Gee whiz, only CPUs that cost twice as much as the Ryzen beats it! I'm such a retard for going with Ryzen!

>Le I only need 100% multiprocessing le meme
Serial performance will be always required on interactive applications.
This is will remain relevant unless you never actual sit on a computer and only encode x265.

Naive people have the delusion it's only a matter of progress.
It's not a matter of progress only, it's a mathematical fact you will always require serial performance on CPUs involved in interactivity
This is because interactive application must always adhere to the rules of a global loop and that must protect global variables with inefficient and slow locks if you plan to do any parallelism with them.

You can cry all you want for your next game to be "100% paralleled" but it will never happen, it's how mathematics works.
You will always need strong individual threads not only in gaming, but in anything that requires human input, including setting up your Photoshop before you actually render, which is 99% of the time you actually use a computer.
So next time you plan to type "those games" or "that desktop application" has "lazy programmers" think again, learn to code, or shut up.

>á¹he city of $1700 Intel CPU
>>
>>59206088
Which is why you chose to not be a faggot, you read the OP, and realize the sweet spot is usually a 4c/8t Intel or even 4/8 AMD.
AMD fuck up by shilling first for the 8/16 CPUs. They cause housefires and don't work well on benchmarks people need.
Intel knows what they are doing with promoting first the 4/8 chips.
>>
>>59206088
Filthy kikes on suicide watch.
Also that $1700 POS that is "Intel's HEDT line best" doesn't even support ECC.

Its a meme to allow for curryniggers to write systems level software without memory management bugs. Patricians can write C without any issues. If you want to keep your jobs, then disavow rust at all costs.

Why would anyone buy AMD when intel is literally cheaper and doesn't have any of these issues?

Because Intel is prepared to fuck the consumer in the ass at every chance they get, and the only thing stopping them from doing so is AMD.
