If you would like to try out GNU/Linux you can do one of the following:
0) Install a GNU/Linux distribution of your choice in a Virtual Machine.
1) Use a live image and to boot directly into the GNU/Linux distribution without installing anything.
2) Dual boot the GNU/Linux distribution of your choice along with Windows or Mac.
3) Go balls deep and replace everything with GNU/Linux.

terry nigger kills birds.
rms seduce birds
I wonder why terry and his useless os isn't banned from here.
How does rms smell?
I doubt that bird is free.
Old fag here, need some advice.
Want to buy my son a CHEAP gaming system that will play most of the current games out there without issues.
We have hard drives, SATA cables, vidya card, and an ATX tower case.
I have googled around and found some barebones/bundle sites, but I am wondering if anyone can
give me some good sites to check out.
I wanna keep it under $400 if possible.
LogicalIncrements.
For $400, it's not going to be able to play any modern games at a reasonable frame rate.

Link: https://LogicalIncrements.com/
>>59212441
Have you tried falcon's guide on logical increments?
what the fuck is gamersnexus?
strange, I thought GN was pro AMD.
I don't get what's the problem with showing 4K too, it shows that Ryzen is not bottlenecking at such resolutions.
hey guys my rig's been on the fritz lately and I'm wondering what the fuck is the deal, as a friend of mine has pretty much the same specs and isnt having any issues
is there a program or something you guys can recommend for troubleshooting when you arent sure what's causing the problem in your hardware
alternatively, you guys got a recommended free virus software?
>>59211680

"On the fritz" = broken = buy a new fucking computer you twat, we're not your personal tech support

you shouldn't need help finding this
Your daily reminder to only trust reviewers without ASUS boards.

Here's what results using a Gigabyte board look like.
>>59211647
>CHIV
>they literally have motherboard names HIV
>>59211647
and they say intel shills are full damage control
>hear the ryzen is "not so good in gayming"
>the difference is only like 5 frames
>when every processor is already putting out 100+ frames
what the fuck, the processors can play any game on ultra at 100+ frames at all times, what is the problem here?
are we really worried about the difference between 350 frames and 400 frames in csgo?
the media really took off with this one, already trying to force the "bad for gaming" meme
>>59211059
>Still in denial
>>59211059
That and synthetic benchmarks are pretty useless to gamers. Those tests are all carried out with absolutely no other programs running in the background on fresh windows install.
Nobody does that, everyone have a bunch of proceses in the background, a browser with 10+ tabs, etc.. Also, mobo bioses were a last-minute fixes. Disabling SMT in windows granted performance in some games ...
The platform is a bit immature so I expect at least 5% overall gains in the next few weeks.
Actual user reviews vrom the real-world will hit next week.
I've been waitingâ„¢ for Zen for a while and I have to say it's been a lackluster release. By all accounts, the 7700k looks to be the superior chip for gaming, or anything that relies on per-core performance.
Can anyone from team red tell me why I should wait ~3 more months to see the R5 lineup, when in all likelihood it will fall to the 7700k as well?
The only thing I'm waiting to see is if the 1070's fall in price alongside the 1080's with the release of the 1080 TI.
Ryzen is a processor for hackers and illegalists, see this? it does extraordinally good at AES, which is a way to do encryption, these chips were literally designed to encrypt criminal activity and hide it from the authorities.
This chip was designed without the supervision of the United States of America government, making this chip extremely dangerous and putting the company AMD on the blacklist..
.
But... there's something far more sinister lurking in this chip..
>>59210893
And it's this!
Meet hash, hash is a nice daily thing used everywhere in regular doses, but at these levels it becomes sinisterly dangerous.
Hackers use hashes to break passwords and steal accounts, these chips were literally designed for criminal acts, this ends now.
>>59210893
Maybe the NSA will buy a few million and AMD can be floated until Zen+
Zen+ is supposed to have 15% IPC improvement right?
>>59210893
>>59210913
Think of more creative shitposting.
>>59210925
Nothing has been stated about Zen+, other than it now being called Zen2 for lack of a better name. Q4 earnings call Su referred to future iterations as Zen2 and Zen3.
Could machine learning be used to identify pedophiles based on SFW web browsing pattern?
Specifically, even if the pedophile is only browsing SFW sites, could there be a statistical difference in their browsing pattern compared to normal people?
Could employers use machine learning software to identify possible pedophiles among their employees who could expose them to both regulatory and PR risks (e.g. the Google engineer who was looking at private NSFW selfies of lolis stored Google's cloud storage) and fire them preemptively?
Yes. If you hate Microsoft because they created software to check for child porn in pictures being stored on their server and think that is an invasion of your privacy, you are most likely a pedophile.
>>59210563
No, I'm trying to see if I could pitch a software that could be sold to companies that would identify potentially risk employees based on various metadata.
One big area of interest is possible sex offenders, especially against children.

This is already happening, apparently facebook has a "creep flag" which is 0 if you have a "normal" online behavior, and 1 if you're continuosly stalking someone underaged, and so on. It's not available to the general public yet, it's just an automatic email only service provided to a handfull of high profile companies and ofcourse protected by various nda's. Basically you send a list of fb profiles to an obfuscated email address and you get back the same list but with a 0 or 1 at the end of every name. Publicly they sit on this for now because it would create a media shitstorm, but they will release it at the right moment, they're just looking for the right excuse\context. Reddit does this too but in a more rudimentary way.
That's what I call technologia.
https://www.researchgate.net/blog/post/dna-could-be-the-future-of-data-storage
definitely interesting.
very impractical considering current sequencing methods first need you to multiply the dna by a lot. maybe if Oxford's nanopore gets a breakthrough.
>>59210247
this is old news
also, dna is speculated to be used as an "archiving" storage medium (hundreds of terabytes of data in a few grams of DNA), not practical for constant "read"/"write" operations
great, now your computer can also get cancer
WTF? I thought iOS was supposed to be safer since muh walled garden

anyone who believes this is straight up retarded and should kill himself
I've found this "smart"phone in my room, I'm charging it now (pretty sure it's working. But, as far as I can remember, none of the features it had are useful for me anymore, so I want to "ressurrect it" with a new system (some linux distro, if possible). Would be possible for this Sidekick LX to run any other OS ? Would be a shame to just throw it away, the keyboard was very good to use.
>>59209850
If it's an actual Sidekick LX, it's running Android, and there's a whole world of Android modding out there. Start over at XDA Developers.
If it's the older Danger OS based models, it's a fucking brick now.
>>59209850
Post a pic of it OP.
>>59209964
It's using the Danger OS system, there is nothing I can do ? To the trash it goes then...
Redpill me on data recovery

it's actually going back in time to retrieve the data. actual data recovery is bullshit.
>>59209670

going back in time costs a lot of resources. think about it.

Hey any of you majoring in engineering technology? What type of jobs do they offer in that field?
>>59209495
You're basically one tier above normal technicians but still below the engineers. You'd be a liaison of sorts between technicians and engineers.
>>59209602
What exactly do they do? Work with hardware? I am looking into a program where they require you to take computer science and engineering technology course. Im wondering wether or not that would be useful together???
>>59209757
Look at jobs that interest you regardless of the degree requirements. Compile a list and see if engineering technology is accepted for a number of the interesting jobs.
