A thread died for this.
Like you just sat down in a toilet stall, and then notice the walls are covered in penises.
These threads are for discussion of all things Cyberpunk, from movies, TV, websites, games, and even current events.
Related topics range from fashion, to personal security and anonymity, to alternative and creative hardware, and much more.
>What is cyberpunk?
Cyberpunk is a genre of science fiction set in a lawless subculture of an oppressive society dominated by computer technology.

A cyberpunk doomsday cult is starting to form around an anon calling himself Tsuki, who is presently believed to be a Dutch 16 year old schizophrenic. Current thread is at:

Goggles to help blind people see, very cyber

Yeah, all of this augmentation and sensory restoration research almost seems proof that cyberpunk was a prophetic genre. The world we live in is almost there, and I think we'll see the societal changes over the next four years bring us closer to the socio-political realities of the Sprawl and a fully networked society while the research brings us closer to the level of technological progress they portray.
It's gonna be interesting to say the least.

Are headphone amplifiers even worth it?
I bought one and I notice no difference from my phone. Is Hi-Res audio even worth it?

You haven't gone far enough yet.
What does /g/ think about Matrix compatible messengers like Riot?
Can they succeed with at least the crowd that might use IRC, if not the crowd that would use WhatsApp and Skype and Facebook and all that proprietary privacy invasive trash?
>>59105367
Where I work at, we all just use Skype. Nobody is really happy with it, but it's not enough of a reason to make everyone switch to something else.
>>59105707
It's odd, given that with a more free service, the whole "obstacle" that is immediate is just, you know, registering with an email and then re-adding contacts...
Looking for Microsoft 70-734 VCE exam simulator. Examcollection isn't selling any exams right now and the free ones are not even accurate. Can anyone recommend any other places to get exams? Piratebay doesn't have my particular exam.

If pajets don't use the loo, would you not have a better possibility to find them at the designated?
I'm insterested in this also, welp
Why does anyone use this cuck license?
>>59105171
Say you're making open source plugins for a proprietary program like photoshop.
BSD license makes sense then.
>>59105239
How? So companies can sell it without giving you any profit?

They're cucks; they do exist
What is /g/ approved warmup before doing tech thongs like coding and pulling levers?

I hate this programming meme. "An error occured" is far less cryptic and gets the point across much more clearly.
>>59103124
How would that actually help you solve any problem? Obviously the user knows there is an error if shit is broke.
>>59103124
I literally hate any naming convention when it comes shitix. They always gotta do some cryptic inside joke bullshit for everything and then wonder why no sane person wants to use their system for a desktop computer.
can you over do the gpu overclock limit? do u need more watts?
watt

Use bios.
>>59102664
It requires a custom BIOS.
The stock OC software is designed to not hurt your GPU.
The warranty will be void if you go beyond the stock BIOS voltage limits.
Does the existence of simulations/artificial intelligence justify the claim that we ourselves are living in a simulation?
Will there come a day when simulated reality merges with the actual?

Is this true? I always think about what changed in computers. I mean with computers that are a million times faster than they used to be, you'd think latency should be gone for software based issues, but they're not. Firefox uses up more memory than some fucking OS's do. How/why is this? Why is software so bloated, and how do we undo it?
>how do we undo it?
Install gentoo
Because programmers are giving less fucks because the hardware is too good
It's like money, you won't think too much about using it if you have a lot

A combination of bloat, lazyness and ignorance towards retarded software architectures.
>Why is software so bloated, and how do we undo it?
We don't. We lean back and watch this civilisation fall. Twice.

Are there any /g/ related podcasts that don't suck dick? I've been listening to Lunduke's (the guy from LAS who wasn't an annoying fat fuck but left) podcast and it's okay. I tried Linux Action Show (used to watch it back in the day) but the fat fuck who knows nothing seems to talk more than the actual devs that they have on.
>lunduke not annoying
He's very obnoxious and "lolsorandom amazing bacon!". Trying way too hard.
>>59102918
he's a normie for sure and some of the shit he says makes me roll my eyes, but his guests are solid, and the discussions they have on linux and free software are top notch
>>59102547
I genuinely like most jupiter broadcasting podcasts (linuw action show's network)
Maybe try their bsd and security shows which don't feature said fat dude.
Otherwise try late night linux and security now

CINEBENCH ONLY
NOTHING ELSE UNTIL ALL THE PREORDERS HAVE LEFT THE WAREHOUSE
NDAS ARE FOR YOUR OWN GOOD WHY WOULD WE HIDE ANYTHING
BUY RYZEN
STOCK STILL AVAILABLE FOR PREORDER ;^)
Dumbshit question, sorry in advance:
I have 2x1080p monitors, both old (~20 ms/ea.). One is dying. Both on a GTX 670. Don't game much.
Considering doing one of the following:
1) Buying 3x1440p monitors at a higher (~10ms) refresh rate and a new video card, doing a 4 monitor setup
2) Buying 3x1080 monitors at a lower (~1ms) refresh rate and a new video card, doing a 4 monitor setup
3) Buying 2x1080 monitors that look like the other one (ASUS), rolling with a 3-monitor setup with the GTX 670.
Does refresh rate > resolution enough to warrant (2) over (1)? Is 4 monitors overkill if I genuinely do a lot of work (law/programming/engineering) on my computer requiring a lot of shit open at the same time? I could afford any of the above 3, but I'm kinda a cheapass.
If you have the MONEY def go for 1
If you run linux you could always try to go for something like i3wm because it makes multitasking so easy even with just one monitor and it's free. (Just something to consider before you spend a ridiculous amount of money, It's free so no harm done if it's not for you, right?). Also if you're not into competitive gaming then resolution will be more important then refresh rate on your monitors.
