I don't actually have a profile on StackOverflow. Most of the problems I've encountered I've either been able to solve myself, or have been answered by someone already on StackOverflow, so having an account is rather unnecessary.
I do have a Github account that I'd be willing to provide, but I would note that I don't have a _TON_ of projects to my name, and none of my school assignments are on Github, because I do not want to spoil them for people who take the class after me.
What's the most productive thing that you use your PC for, and what are your specs? I want to know how consumerist or how practical /g/ is.
The most productive thing that I do is making memes or meme edits using GIMP. Otherwise, I use it for shitposting, saving/viewing porn images, and video games.
>>59244765

Define productive
Just wan't to make sure we have the same definitions
>>59244794
Productive is what you perceive as being "productive"
The one other requirement is that you're technically producing something
Assuming you already have a capable desktop, what reason would you have for purchasing a laptop bigger than 13.3"?

lots of people here are socially inept and dont realize how autistic it is to carry around a 17" laptop in college
they think this is perfectly normal cause of their high level of autism
Being blind as fuck. Already have friends with pretty bad eyesight. 15/17 inches laptops are entirely justified
As a gamer is digital eye strain and computer vision syndrome something I should be worried about?
Will so called "gamer glasses" actually help me in the long run?

Can someone explain why the below doesn't work? I'm going through SICP. This exercise wants you to make a function that counts the pairs of a structure.
(define (count-pairs x)
(define (count-pair-wrap x traversed-pairs)
(if (or (not (pair? x)) (memq x traversed-pairs))
0
(begin (set! traversed-pairs (cons x traversed-pairs))
(+ (count-pair-wrap (car x) traversed-pairs)
(count-pair-wrap (cdr x) traversed-pairs)
1))))
(count-pair-wrap x (list)))
The correct solution is shown below. What could be going wrong?
(define (count-pairs x)
(let ((encountered '()))
(define (helper x)
(if (or (not (pair? x)) (memq x encountered))
0
(begin
(set! encountered (cons x encountered))
(+ (helper (car x))
(helper (cdr x))
1))))
(helper x)))

You could buy an 8320 right now, and you'd still get less hate than if you'd bought an R7. At least on shill infested /g/

>You could buy an 8320 right now, and you'd still get less hate than if you'd bought an R7. At least on shill infested /g/
This would be unfair had AMD fags not been so fucking smug about Ryzen for literally months.
We're talking about hundreds of threads per day

I wouldn't mind if it didn't ruin the aesthetic.
I'd buy alienware or the like if it weren't for the whole aggressive sharp angles, edgy RBG leds and cryingy teenager appearance.
I'm supposed to be rational and think only about the computing power of these machines when I make a purchase but damn, I don't want to have such an ugly piece of shit if I spend $1000+ on a machine.
ITT we explain properly and clearly why we hate the Pajeet. Which one of these reasons do we hate the Pajeet?
>shitty shortcut methods to programming
>use of horrific languages and APIs
>inability to use a toilet

What is it guys? Why does the Pajeet suck?
>>59243515
>shitty shortcut methods to programming
Yep
>use of horrific languages and APIs
Java is pajeet lang #1, and it's not too bad. Apparently C# is rising for some reason though.
>inability to use a toilet
I dunno
>low pay incentivizing them to work like shit
this is really the fault of penny pinching CEOs
whatever, they literally will get what they paid for -- trash code
>crap attitude and tendency to cheat/lie
yep
>they're just creepy af
absolutely
I've got an old 3560 I got from work, what can I do with it on my home network?
What more do you honestly think you can do? Get a switch, a media server, a decent ac wireless router and a patch panel. Cable your house with Ethernet so that every room has at least 2-4 ports. Patch it all down to the patch panel, assign addresses and routing protocols. Enjoy a comfy home network for every device.
>>59243499
send packets through it, what the fuck else would you do?
holy shit fuck off faggot, if you have to ask what to do with a SWITCH you obviously shouldnt have taken it.
dumb shit
>>59243563
This is the only logical answer, if you bite the bullet and go with cat6 you can even upgrade the switch to 10gbps in the future.
