Red Pill me on something. Does anyone actually that shit? I'm not very new in programming in general so I may be getting easily bored, but, I've need actually seen a way to do web development without either being pissed or falling asleep. Most frameworks are frustrating pieces of shit that go through China to do simplistic shit, or, they are extremely easy to learn and rudimentary to the point of saying what is the fucking point of even pretending to learn them before you actually need them (it would be like 10 minutes to start editing them if you really needed to).

As a result I start developing an impression that the purely WYSIWYG subsystems that many frameworks now utilize on the pure web are the largest part of the future on that. The normies can do almost 90% a power user can do with them. And let's face it, the web isn't that "deep', it's mainly looks and some basic-to-moderate functionally.

In any case though it's boring and I can't fathom how so many of you can even bear to be in that kind of fucking job, unless you are extreme beginners in programming and you think doing a function on PHP is somehow expanding your brain or something.

Web design would be boring if you were bound to using a framework, but every project ends up being bootstrap overrides galore. If you're a beginner it'll be better to look at UX practices before you start looking at actual UI design.

I work in the field and have done for a few years now.

has anyone ever been has far as to look more like?

I have a .txt file out of which I want to erase every instance of square brackets and what's inside them.
Since I also want to delete what's inside the brackets, I don't think a simple search and replace would work.

Do you know of a way to do this, /g/?

e. g.
Original text: "Janitor acceptance [emails] will be sent out over the coming weeks"
Result text: "Janitor acceptance will be sent out over the coming weeks"

You can do it on Notepad++ since it has generic terms, so you just replace "[*]" with nothing. Not that the asterisk actually represents "anything", I don't remember what it was. Look it up.

It's still bugged even today since it tanks performance on a static Apache serve, and it's clearly not a single thread benchmark.

Where the fuck is Volta? Pascal is 1 year old tech.

If it's in under 6-10 months, I don't mind waiting because 4k 100/144Hz monitors will start showing up, and Pascal can already do 4k@60Hz pretty decently overclocked.

I've got a question /g/. So I logged into facebook, and it alerted me that a person from this IP;27.78.41.92 in Vietnam attempted to log into my facebook. Now my password was lengthy and consisted of a lot of random numbers and letter combinations. How the hell did this person get my login info and password? Am I being keylogged? The only sketchy thing I went on was a website to watch a show, and it tried to install the fake flash player which i promptly exited and sent to trash bin to delete.

He didn't get my account luckily he was denied access and blocked and i changed my password. Do you think I was keylogged or something or is this just some fuck who used a password random generator and got lucky?

its very easy to get your password if you visit another page while you are logged into facebook

always log in to any important website in incognito mode and then close it immediately after you are done with it

What do you guys think about VPNs? Is it worth paying for one?

>>59281126
It's an added layer of protection from your isp.

But does not guarantee you total anonymity since we have no way of knowing if these companies deliver or not the services promised, we just have to trust them that they have user privacy in mind, which i highly doubt.

If you are involved in something shady and slim then even a vpn won't hide you, the popo can get a canary warrant and monitor your activity while using the vpn and the provider is not in any way shape or form obligated to inform you.

So you see the problem.

There's no absolute way of knowing these companies have your complete privacy in mind, because going against the state is something no company does. It's bad for business

Protects you from an ISP and generic surveillance, but it is thin tissue paper to any targeted approach, like from law enforcement.

Okay /g/, I need two things

I need a (dumb) cell phone that has user-removable storage and battery with a distinctly fast boot up time.

I need a modern laptop that has user-removable wifi, bluetooth, wireless display, etc hardware (or preferably none at all). Basically, I need to have a laptop with no wireless hardware whatsoever. It is preferable to have user-removable HDD. I'd also prefer it to not have or to have removable microphone or webcam as an extra precaution.

I need the phone in the event that I need to place an emergency call. I'd carry it around with the battery removed so as to avoid tracking and spying, but I could insert the battery in an emergency and place a 911 call. That's why it needs a fast boot up time.

I'd be fine with a battery that I can't remove, but only if I can be confident that being "turned off" will actually power down and disable all parts of the phone, including and especially the wireless hardware.

The laptop with no wireless hardware is to avoid intrusion. This device won't be connecting to any networks at all. I'd get a desktop, but I need portability and battery.

Also to those wanting to make a living in technology, take my advice: don't work in anything involving particularly sensitive data. You will become paranoid. You will regret what technology has become. You will loathe your financial dependence on it. Just don't do it.

Those phones marketed to seniors might be a good choice, they're very simple and might boot faster.

For the laptop, get a used Thinkpad, open it up and strip out the Wi-Fi/BlueTooth card. Then only use Wi-Fi over USB or something.
>>
>>59280701
I'll look at the phones, thanks.

My concern with getting a used Thinkpad is that they are an ideal vector for intelligence agencies to use to target "sketchy image board users." I'd imagine that they have a higher likelihood of being modified with tracking hardware and such things, that I'm definitely not well trained enough to search for and remove.

Also the goal is to NOT have ANY networking capabilities, so a USB WiFi would defeat the purpose.

But on another note, is it easy to remove the webcam/microphone in a Thinkpad? I'd imagine that Thinkpads have a serviceable enough design that they would likely just use simple connectors on the motherboard that I could unplug. I believe some manufacturers build their webcam cables into the display cables, so you can't easily remove one without removing the other.
>>
>>59280760
Why remove?
Can't you just open and cut the wire connecting the mic/cam? That way it looks like it has a working cam and it's actually not working.
For phones, I doubt you'll find one with removable storage.
Removable battery was a feature in all dumbphones and I believe it still is, though so any dumbphone should do.
Also, if you're so paranoid, see if you can actually add a switch between the battery and main board. This way you can get one without a removable battery.
