What a shitty resolution, lol, glad it's fuckin dead
What's your resolution, /g/? Mine is 1366x768, x220 master raise
Same with the x220
Then 1680x1050
Then 2560x1080
5960x1080, has been ever since the GTX 680 came out, now on a 1080

anyone's ever had experience with Lenovo Ideapad s400?
I was going to buy an used T61 from the internet just for work/college, so basically I would install debian or buntu and maybe, if needed dualboot win7 , mostly to program shit, use MS/Libreoffice and 4chan browsing. however, my friend told me he has a notebook sitting unused and he is willing to sell it to me for the same price as the T61 I was going to buy. Its a lenovo s400, I've tested it a bit and it is in tiptop conditions and since he is not a complete normie-retard I am pretty sure he didn't fuck it up somehow by dropping it or whatever. So is it worth it? is this s400 decent? I know that the specs are obviously better in the s400 but is there something to I should watch out for in this specific model? (notebook virgin, never had one and don't really like them, but actually need one now).
the price of a brand-new s400 is ~1700 in my currency, the T61 and consequently the price of my friend's notebook for me is 350, which is pretty fucking cheap for a notebook here, specially for a almost new and recent one
Build quality on this looks shoddy as hell. Max RAM is 4gb which is piss poor. Plus no trackpoint.
If you're spending 350 on this, you're spending too much. You're better off with a T420 which you can easily get for the same price.
>>59308255
not american, so its not U$ 350. my currency is very fucked up right now, so 350 in my currency is around U$ 100. for comparison, a brand-new T420 is around 1200 in my currency, so almost 4x as much as the s400. As I said, I was going for a T61 with even less RAM. the things I will use the notebook for will hardly pass 2~3gb RAM usage
>>59308767
In that case, you're the best judge. You can definitely do worse for that price. If you're not doing anything too performance heavy, you should be fine. Although I would probably go for the T61 because Thinkpad aesthetic desu.
Why are you using bloatware when you could be installing Gentoo that uses <64MB?
>>59308152
I'm using way more on my Gentoo 'cause I really don't care about the "burden" that is to a computer.
By the way, WTF are you doing with your compiler toolchain at under 64MB?
It won't compile most software, will it...?
>>59308152
how long did it take you to have it up and running?
Because you are the reason linux sucks on the desktop. KDE Plasma is the future, the closest thing to XAML and XPF. The "muh 2MB footprint on my 128GB machine" meme has killed linux.
In light of recent news, I feel like Comp Net is one of the most important things to become familiar with, but I don't know shit about it.
Agreed?
If so, where should I start?
If not so, what should I be learning?
Someone recommend OP a book.

Fucking hell. I'm so glad I decided not to move over to 10. I almost was going to do it, too since i have access to Education and can turn off (the vast majority of) the spying shit, and boot speeds are fucking insane.

block explorer.exe in your firewall
problem solved
>>59307961
Can easily be disabled in the Control Panel
The vault 7 leaks say you can escalate privilege using code "within the context of a process approved for elevation", with explorer.exe and notepad as examples.
Windows noob here. What does that mean, and how do I protect against it? Are they giving corrupted binaries or are they getting notepad to execute their code? Link and code used below:

I'm going to be installing in UEFI mode alongside W10, so it needs to support that. I want a pretty UI to do general tasks on (as well as learning linux).

Red pill me on the technology 4chan uses to have an imageboard.
There's a computer with 4chan installed... We all connect to it... So basically we're all part of a botnet...
It's twenty year old php spaghetti with new features occasionally glued on, and the entire thing sometimes crashes.
There was an interesting /x/ theory that 4chan was made up of different levels.
Essentially, as you got more and more redpilled, you were sent to a different version of 4chan which looked the same but slowly replaced other posters with bots designed to bait you into committing a crime. The ratio of regular posters to bots got higher the deeper down the rabbit hole you went. At the bottom level, it would be essentially just you and bots.
Now that the dust has settled, who was in the wrong here?

What the fuck is wrong with these people in pic related?
It's like their life's purpose is all fucked up. I don't understand why they do the conniving shit they do.
Is there even a real security threat or are they just LARPing?
>>59307592
The CIAs purpose is to destabilize nations so that the military might go in a pacify the rebellions.
It's an overzealous remnant of FDR and cold war policies that will corrupt our nation and social interests until the world recognizes the truth about socialism.
