kde or xfce

I use kde with breeze theme, inconsolata font, and papirus icons, but there's a bunch of decent options you can check out and download - if you've ever downloaded themes for firefox, it's really not much different, and very simple to test them out. You don't need to reboot or anything.

Some people hate kde because it's a bit unstable/rough around the edge - personally I had mine fail to install a few things (audio control in the taskbar, and some system setting options) but a couple google-searches about the missing things gave me commands to install them.

It infuriates me we're still forced to use it for our grad projects at uni, the world has moved on and we're still here brainfed the fact that you must "only use js for aesthetics" and "what if javascript is switched off", no, all modern browsers have it out of the box and the average Joe Bloggs isn't going to have it turned off, the business I work for has its main product written in nodejs and is very successful, so uni can fuck off with its dead mindset.

Inkscape isn't that bad and receives new features but it's still crippled by trying to formulate the toolset strictly around SVG standard rather than letting the user himself to choose the limits. It's just a principally wrong approach that's totally out of place in graphic design software.

Just build it yourself dumbass. You'll save money and learn about computers.

NCIX is trash, but when they were okay I'd order my stuff through them and just pay the $20 fee to get my computer put together and windows installed with working drivers and everything configured.

They need to separate information first. Clearly some of it is static and not incremental so should be placed in a simple document. Incremental information needs it's own sheet, afterwards it can be inserted into the sheet with static information and updated via scripts. A published page can be rolled out afterwards. Yes, it's doable with google docs without looking so cluttered and misused as it is now.

A person who can redo their setup by making a custom system should have enough experience to operate office-style programs and write a script to handle auto updating. Their problem is not using Docs to the full potential because they don't have afformentioned skills.
