think about it - if a scam was designed to trap even the smartest people, then you would be stuck wasting time on people that will be the hardest to continue to ensnare. this is why email and facebook scams are so outwardly dumb - they don't want to waste time on smart people, they only want to get dumb people who won't raise an eyebrow as the scam continues

the same works here. who would you rather scam? a braindead wintoddler? or a savvy linux sysadmin? i'd go with the wintoddler. they're way more likely to pay up because they are less likely to get the virus in the first place, and also less likely to have backed their stuff up regularly
