Does anyone actually care about this shit?
Calling all disk encryption autists.
I've been using Windows + VeraCrypt for the last two years, but I'm currently migrating to Ubuntu (specifically Xubuntu). I want to use full disk encryption in Ubuntu so my two options are dm-crypt/LUKS or VeraCrypt.
Which one is stronger? Additionally, what are the default settings for the full disk encryption in Ubuntu? I attempted to google this but I failed to find the default settings. I know that VeraCrypt can do cascading algorithms but dm-crypt/LUKS can't. It may be possible to configure dm-crypt/LUKS to be as secure as VeraCrypt, but the installation is transparent and doesn't mention the default settings, much less allow you to change them.
With VeraCrypt I'm using cascading algorithms AES(Twofish(Serpent)), XTS, HMAC-SHA-256. Can dm-crypt/LUKS be configured to use the same?
Please help.
>>59410460
Use "Create LUKS containers and encrypt" during install w/Ubuntu don't use Verashit.
Don't select "Encrypt my home folder" it's useless you want FDE via install. Let Ubuntu choose the defaults because you aren't a crypto engineer and haven't run any specific tests or broken any implementations to know why you shouldn't just use the default.
The whole 'cascading' algorithms is security theater, it doesn't offer any benefit.
>>59410460
technically vera is better but do you really need ultra secure encryption?
>>59410483
But what is the default in Ubuntu 16.04 LTS? I can't trust it if I don't even know what it is and it's done transparently during install. At least with VeraCrypt I know what the setup is because I configured it myself.
Cascading algorithms might be security theater, but it gives me better peace of mind.
>school statistically suspects me of cheating on an exam
>literal evidence of me doing this is on my uni email because I'm an idiot
I deleted the emails but would they have them stored on the server and for how long do you think. Uni policy allows them to read our emails if we are suspected of breaking laws or universities policies. I'm scared /g/uys someone reassure me please
>>59410420
Check the privacy policy of the university and if they don't say that they archive deleted emails they are being kept illegally.
But that's what you get for cheating instead of relying on your own intelligence and charisma, faggot.

>Keep evidence of cheating on uni email
I hope you get suspended you retard.
>>59410436
Yes charisma really helps me pass my exams too.

Nope, last great nokia was the 8850

Man I love chinks and their clones.
I also own awus036nh, I am actually using it right now as my wifi card, I originally used to to hax0r wifi, but I leave that

In light of recent botnets discovered by Google, and random lockscreens showing up on Note 4 devices completely on their own the past couple days... I've noticed something on happening on my S7 the last couple weeks.
This lpe folder continuously and periodically creates/modifies tmp*.raw files every day at arbitrary times. I've googled this and seen two other samsung users (devs from stackexchange and XDA) asking the same question, with no answers to be found. I know /g/'s not my personal tech support, but I do feel this warrants a thread just in case there may be some vulnerability or security issues for other Samsung users. (forgot to mention I'm running Nougat 7.0 on the S7e T-mobile variant)
>>59410233
What's in the files? Open them with a hex editor or something and post a screenshot. It's probably some Samsung bloatware, you have a billion background processes and system apps running on any given stock Samsung ROM.
>using a stock rom
>using google apps
>buying samshit
lmao idiot

I've tried everything. They're all unreadable gibberish it seems
What do you think, g?

Trash
Nice OP pic though, only reason I opened the thread.
>>59410151
The link works on my phone. Weird.
So /g/ i was thinking. For a budget build, the price differential between a nice monitor with touch screen features and a normal nice monitor is less than the price of a mechanical keyboard & gaming mouse. Why aren't we recommending touch displays in threads such as PC Building General

Post a bench, a pic of your pc or something. Anyone can buy a prebuilt or lego together some components. I fail to see the interest unless we made a game out of it

if i get a computer science degree, get 2 years of experience would that be enough to be able to start a software company
You don't need anything other than capital to start a company.

Install Gentoo
anyone can start a company, you need business skill (degree?) to start a successful company.

This right here is Walmart's "Area 71" datacenter. That's right, it's a literal and absolutely fucking massive botnet. If you've ever set foot in a Walmart, you've been botnetted. If you've ever protested against Walmart, you've been botnetted. If you've reported on suc protests, you've been botnetted. If you were for some reason dumb and connected to their wifi, all of your personal emails are now theirs and the botnet's. If for some reason you're working there, you're actively being spied on by the botnet.
People are quick to scream "BOTNET" with the traditional companies (Google, MS, Yahoo, et al), but many don't realize that Walmart is also a massive botnet. Arguably, a far more scarier botnet that's actually real and literal.

https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/3ffvzl/chromium_appeared_on_my_computer_out_of_nowhere/
Ended up being a tag-along in a torrent. It's not causing any problems NOW, but from what others affected have reported, it goes downhill if left unchecked so I need to get rid of it. Problem is, ending the chromium tasks does nothing, they just pop right back up, and control-panel uninstall does nothing.
I've done my sleuthing but Every removal "how-to" guide ends up being more shady attemps to get me to download a removal tool. That's the kind of shit that caused this. Is there any actual guide to removing chromium that can be trusted?
THANK YOU!
